Title: The Spencer Cohen Series, Book 1
Series: The Spencer Cohen Series
Author: N.R. Walker
Genre: M/M Contemporary
Release Date: February 18, 2016
Spencer Cohen is the guy who gets answers to relationship questions. Playing the role of the new lover, his job is to make his client’s ex realise one of two things: he doesn’t want to break up or he really does. Either way, his client gets answers.
The ex would either apologize and beg, or turn and walk. But in the end, Spencer’s client won. If he wanted his ex back and got him, it was great. If the guy walked away, then as hard it was for the client, he knew it was over. Regardless of the outcome, Spencer’s work was done.
Andrew Landon’s ex left him without so much as an explanation. But his sister can’t stand to see him miserable, so, much to Andrew’s dismay, they hire Spencer to be Andrew’s new boyfriend to get the ex back.
For Spencer, it is never personal. Merely a business transaction. No emotions, no strings, no complications.
Even a blind man could see how this would end.
“This book was not long, per se, but it wasn't a short novella either. But it simply flew! I felt like I read it in the course of an hour. A start to another winning series for Walker, for sure.” -5 Star Goodreads Review
“N.R. Walker will leave you begging for more of this series which has started out with a bang! I simply cannot wait for books 2&3 -- excellent book!!!” -5 Star Review Alpha Book Club
“This book is definitely a re-reading material, a comfort food for my soul, and I’m kinda obsessed with Spencer and love him like I love Travis in RDH. Sigh. Highly recommended!” - 5 Star Review Reading Addict Mom’s Blog
Well, it's just under two months into 2016 and right now Spencer and Andrew have just smashed into my favorite M/M couple of the year. This is one of those books that you finish with a satisfied sigh and just need a little while to relax before you can think about picking up another book.
Can you tell that I loved it? Spoiler alert--I gave it 5 stars ;-)
Spencer is absolutely wonderful. He's sweet with a hint of spice, sexy, cocky, funny, focused and I want to replace Lola as his best friend. Not because I didn't like Lola-she's pretty terrific-but because Spencer is just that awesome. Andrew is the opposite of Spencer in some things-being quieter and a bit more conservative-but alike in others. The whole purpose of them coming together isn't for the two of them to end up with each other--quite the opposite in fact. And as Spencer says, he's really good at his job.
Even though the story takes place over a relatively short period of time, it is written so well that you can still follow the development of Spencer and Andrew's connection as if it's lasted much longer than it really has. It is so sweet, and still spicy--even without a single down-and-dirty scene--and as the story unfolds, you can't help but hope right alongside Spencer that things will come out in their favor. By the end of the story, I had a warm and tingly feeling in my heart for these two, and I'm now thoroughly intrigued for the next books in the series.
I already spoiled it for you, but here it is again--Book 1 of The Spencer Cohen Series is a phenomenal 5-star read and a top recommendation for me, and if you are a fan of M/M romance this is an absolute MUST for your library. While I have no warning for you for the naughty stuff--the author pulled off this sweet yet oh-so-sexy story without a single sex scene between the main characters (and it was still AMAZING), this is still for those 18+ due to adult language and sexual references. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to add the rest of the author's backlist to my TBR--this is this first book I've read by N.R. Walker, and it sure won't be my last.
N.R. Walker is an Australian author, who loves her genre of gay romance.
She loves writing and spends far too much time doing it, but wouldn’t have it any other way.
She is many things: a mother, a wife, a sister, a writer. She has pretty, pretty boys who live in her head, who don’t let her sleep at night unless she gives them life with words.
She likes it when they do dirty, dirty things… but likes it even more when they fall in love.
She used to think having people in her head talking to her was weird, until one day she happened across other writers who told her it was normal.
She’s been writing ever since…
