Blurb

Ever since he first set foot in Harrisburg, Tennant’s life has been a rollercoaster. Ups and downs too numerous to mention, hard knocks and championship rings. Through all of those monumental moments, one thing has been a constant for him, Jared Madsen. Now that their wedding day is drawing nearer, Ten is seriously considering eloping. He would, if not for his mother, his father, his brothers, the wedding planner, the guests, the cake, the press, and the team. Oh, and then there’s his best friend, who is vying for the job of ringmaster of the wedding circus. Would sneaking off during the night with Jared and skipping to the honeymoon part of the festivities really be all that bad?

When Jared proposed to Ten, he imagined a quiet wedding, on a beach somewhere, with family, and maybe the team. But life gets complicated with Ten’s warring brothers, a Russian goalie with a love of sequins, and a bachelor party organized by Adler. When Trent sends them a wedding planner, every spare hour is filled with choosing invitations, cake tasting, and finding a rose in the perfect shade of green. Add in Layton organizing a press conference, and suddenly their private wedding is destined to become a media sensation. Is it wrong to think seriously about kidnapping Ten and spiriting him away to a small deserted island?

Adler organizing the bachelor party, Trent supplying the wedding planner, and Stan writing a speech. What can possibly go wrong?

Guest Post: Kindle Alexander

Please welcome the amazing Kindle Alexander to Making it Happen!

Good morning everyone! Thank you, Carra for having us today! I hope your vacation is stunning and everything you want it to be.

Usually I try for funny. Humor is an important part of my life – I love to laugh and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations – regardless of the situation, but jokes can be a tricky deal. I don’t want to offend anyone, and humor tends to offend. So instead, I’m going to tell you about Kindle.

I tragically lost my sixteen-year-old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen out on the street. I’ll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died – weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn’t have to be alone.

That time in my life was terrible. It’s everything you imagine times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have her ripped away so suddenly broke me.

Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness – it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon announced their brand new ereader. She had no idea the Kindle was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it…Never happened.

Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to know my writing partner. I would have never gotten through those dark days without her unwavering support and guidance. There wasn’t a time she wasn’t there for me. For the first time I used the hand offered. I know without question I wouldn’t be here today without her. It takes a special person to stand beside someone at a time like that. I will love her forever. I could go on and on about both of them, but I won’t.

We created Kindle Alexander in her memory and knew from the very beginning we wanted to write MM Romance – even though we had no idea the genre even existed. Together, with our readers and online friends, we’ve continued her sweet nature – maybe not quite the way she would have lived, but still an incredible continuation. We take this very seriously and appreciate everyone and everything for all you’ve given to grow the genre. You guys are wonderful.

Now you know a little about me, tell me about you in the comments below.

PS: If you’ve never read Kindle, send me an email at kindle@kindlealexander.com and I’m happy to send you a free ebook code to give us a try.

Much love everyone, and again, thank you Carra! Enjoy yourself!

Guest Post: WITH THIS RING... by V.L. Locey

With This Ring…

I’m so thrilled to be visiting Making it Happen blog! I love to stop by to chat and this time around I’m talking wedding books. And not just one, but two!

June is the traditional month for weddings. This is, in part, to honor Juno, a Roman goddess, who was the protector of women in all aspects of their lives, but especially in childbirth and marriage. So, a June wedding in Juno’s month is indeed a most blessed event! Of course, not all weddings now involve women. Some now have two grooms who are saying their ‘I do’s’ in front of friends and loved ones. I’m here to share some info on two MM wedding books that I’m involved with in this month that pays homage to Juno.

Released on June 12th

Nine Small Sips – A Tales of Bryant Wedding

Life for Isamu Taylor is now a Cinderella story that includes a Manhattan loft, a new position in the hottest LGBT film production company in New York City, and an upcoming wedding in Bryant Park to his very own handsome prince.
He’s come a long way from that struggling film student with ratty sneakers and shaggy hair. Isamu is now living an urbanite’s fairy tale with that happily ever after just around a bustling city street corner.
But as all wedding planners know, even the best laid plans seem to go awry, and Isamu and Brian’s wedding is no exception. But love—both old and new—is in the air, so nothing can go too badly, right?

Guest Post: LOVE AND MURDER AT THE BEACH by Morgan Brice

Welcome author Morgan Brice to Making it Happen!

Love and Murder at the Beach

By Morgan Brice

If you’re a beach bum like me, you love a chair in the sand under an umbrella, a cool drink, and either a stack of books or a stuffed Kindle. And ghosts. Lots of ghosts.

I’ve always been fascinated with haunted hotels and ghost stories set in vacation spots. Whenever I visit a new city, I love to take a local ghost tour and read up on all the haunts and scandals. Whether it’s pirate ghosts, shipwreck victims, tragic love affairs or long-ago murder mysteries, I love getting a glimpse of the dark side of paradise.

In my bestselling urban fantasy MM paranormal romance Badlands series, psychic medium Simon Kincaide teams up with skeptical cop Vic D’Amato to track down supernatural killers in Myrtle Beach. Myrtle Beach is a favorite vacation destination of mine, so it’s a lot of fun for me to set a series there. I’m constantly discovering new ghost stories, cool bits of history, and strange tidbits that I can use to liven up the next book.

Myrtle Beach is amusement parks and arcades, motorcycles and mini golf, fireworks and fresh seafood. I gravitate toward the main stretch of the Grand Strand, where the action is, with beachfront hotels, surf shops and great food. It’s not the golf and steak house posh climate of North Myrtle; it’s a parasailing, Italian ice, tiki bar wonderland.

Then I discovered Cape May, New Jersey, and knew I had to set another romance series there! Not only is Cape May several hundred miles north, but the vibe is completely different—from Myrtle Beach, and from Cape May’s closer cousin, Wildwood. Cape May is filled with beautiful Victorian houses, striped beach cabanas, fire pits, Adirondack chairs, and local wineries. It’s more of a polo shirt and khakis kind of place, not surprising since its founders hoped to entice the parasol and top hat crowd away from Newport.

Cape May seemed like the perfect place for my newest series, Treasure Trail, which pairs up Erik Mitchell, a former art fraud investigator with Ben Nolan, a Newark ex-cop. Sparks fly when Ben and Erik meet. But when a cursed hotel’s long-ago scandals resurface, the two men are pulled into a web of lies, danger and deception that will test their bond—and might make them Cape May’s newest ghosts.

Treasure Trail will be out by early July, right in time for vacation reading! In the meantime, grab a beach drink, find a spot on the beach, and try one of the Badlands books or my Witchbane series for some spooky chills and sexy thrills!

Review, Excerpt & Giveaway: SURVIVING THE SHADOWS by Miranda Turner (The Bearer of Truth #2)

Surviving the Shadows
The Bearer of Truth - Book 2
Miranda Turner
Genre: Gay Urban Fantasy
Release Date: June 14th

Cover Design: Lou Harper

BLURB
Gabriel has been gone longer than predicted, and Evander is growing increasingly worried each day that passes without his return. Confounded by their leaders’ lack of answers, Evander and the team begin to fear the worst.

In the midst of fruitlessly searching Miami for clues to the Daemon Abaddon’s whereabouts, Evander begins to have disturbingly vivid dreams. With a little help from a newly-returned and empty-handed Michael and Barabbas, Evander discovers Gabriel has been calling out for help across their nascent bond. With a little backup from an unlikely source, they set off to rescue Gabriel from the depths of the Underworld.

Gabriel is old friends with torture, and his captors haven’t been gentle. Despite growing weaker every day, Gabriel resolves to survive long enough for rescue, or to die fighting, until a Dark Seer begins to dredge up the terror of Gabriel’s horrific childhood, threatening to destroy his mind and soul. Nearing the end, Gabriel manages a last-ditch effort to contact help, reaching out to Evander in his dreams.

Against all odds, Evander and the team fight through the Underworld to reach Gabriel and come face to face with mortality. Sacrifices made for the bonds of brotherhood nearly break them, and Gabriel learns the hard way that embracing the darkness while fighting for the light may be the only way to survive.

From the underbelly of Reno to the glitz and glam of Vegas, Gabriel, Evander, and the men they call family will be tested, and the final confrontation with Gabriel’s maker may be the end of everything they hold dear.

EXCERPT

“His aura has indicators that he practices or has practiced dark magic, but his underlying nature is fighting against it. Right now, his aura resembles an ouroboros.”

“A what?” Delsin asked.

“It’s a circle made out of a snake that is consuming itself. It’s supposed to symbolize wholeness or infinity, but in this case, our young magical friend over there is in trouble. If his magic continues to consume itself, there won’t be a renewal of life but a loss of something good and right as his magic perverts into something dark and unrecognizable.”

A visible shiver moved down Delsin’s body, causing him to wrap his arms around himself; clearly he’d been shaken by Nico’s words. “Can we help him?” Gabriel asked Nico.

Nico sighed. “Your savior complex is raising its ugly head again.” Delsin snorted, but Gabriel just stared Nico down. “Aren’t we supposed to be looking for your dad?” Gabriel stayed silent and lifted one eyebrow. “Ugh…fine, geez.” Nico stomped toward the teenage magic user with Gabriel and Delsin following close behind him, Gabriel’s face breaking out in a sh*t-eating grin.

Carra's Review

Here in the second book of The Bearer of Truth series, the focus concentrates more on the healing Gabriel and the team need to get through, as well as the mission to locate Gabriel’s father.  Both Gabriel and Evander take a step back from their soulmate situation to work on themselves so that they can actually prepare to take another step forward together at some point.  This opens things up so that we start to get additional points of view in the story, including from some of their enemies—something I really liked and which worked well here to give the story extra depth.

While I generally read urban fantasy books for the adventures on which they take me and to get my supernatural creatures fix, this time the author threw me for a loop and had me CRYING just a quarter of the way into the story.  Given the character over which I was dropping my tears, it was wholly unexpected on my part—but the fact that it WAS that character just enforces that the author did an excellent job of making me care about him even when he started out being a real ass.  This also made me realize that I would probably have that same reaction about a lot of the characters in this series that are on Gabriel and his team’s side.

Gabriel’s character experiences a great deal of growth, unfortunately sometimes that does come after experiencing a great deal of pain.  But he’s learning more about himself and what he’s truly capable of, and he’s taking his team along for that ride.  Magic starts to play a more prominent role, something Gabriel must accept and adjust to.

Evander is also going through character growth, something he absolutely needs to be able to eventually move his relationship with Gabriel forward to the point where they can fully complete a bond between them.

Surviving the Shadows is another exciting entry in the series, and right now I’m eagerly awaiting the next book to see where things go from here.  And I mean that not just for Gabriel and Evander, but for the rest of their team as well.  4.5 stars!
