Carra's Review
If you’ve read my reviews of other historical M/M romances previously, you know I can be quite hesitant when deciding to read them since it’s too easy for them to be done wrong. But Eli Easton nails it here in Christmas Angel with accuracy in the setting as well as the behavior and mannerisms of the characters.
John and Alec were a slight study of opposites—John as the big, tough guy who can actually be very sweet, and Alec as the more sedate, serious man who is an incredibly talented sculptor. I felt so sad for Alec at the start, so I really liked how John was courting him, it felt romantic and put a smile on my face. They were both wonderful characters, and I wouldn’t be able to choose a favorite between them.
Speaking of characters, there’s a great cast of secondary ones in the form of John’s fellow residents at the boarding house. They all did a great job in their supporting roles and gave the story greater depth.
Though the series can be read in any order, I wanted to start with this one since it’s the earliest one in the timeline. It’s the perfect starting point for the series, and sets the bar high for the rest of the books. I highly recommend this to fans of both M/M historical romance and holiday romance, and give 4.5 stars for Christmas Angel!
About the Author
Having been, at various times and under different names, a minister’s daughter, a computer programmer, a game designer, the author of paranormal mysteries, a fan fiction writer, and organic farmer, Eli has been a m/m romance author since 2013. She has over 30 books published. Eli has loved romance since her teens and she particular admires writers who can combine literary merit, genuine humor, melting hotness, and eye-dabbing sweetness into one story. She promises to strive to achieve most of that most of the time. She currently lives on a farm in Pennsylvania with her husband, bulldogs, cows, a cat, and lots of groundhogs.
