Blog Tour-Review: The Chalice of Kari by Cahira O'Donnell

Chalice of Kari Synopsis:
Better to Die

Exploited by the government for her psychic gifts, Kahara Mitchell has unwittingly been trained as a deadly assassin. Unwilling to be used to kill innocents, she goes AWOL until her journey ends with her dying – buried under rubble in the wake of a tsunami. At her darkest hour, Lords Rom and Rah Andor, mirror twins from another galaxy rescue her – taking her to their intergalactic fleet where they heal and court her, determined to make her their own.

To Die For

Karinian Lords, Rom and Rah Andor are the co-ruling kings of the entire Daguronian Sector. They have waited over nine hundred years to find their destined mate. Now the two gigantic alien warriors must win Kahara’s love and willingness to bond, or die trying. Conspiracies abound to sabotage the triad union in an attempt to destroy the brothers and take down House Kari.

The Mission

The royal triad is prophesized to be the powerful force uncovering an ancient exploitive system that has driven many races to near extinction. But to do so, the protective brothers must allow their beloved mate to endanger herself as she uses her gifts fighting by their side in a war that determines the destiny of galaxies.

My Review
The Chalice of Kari has elements of several different genres-sci-fi, paranormal, fantasy and of course romance with a nice dose of action and suspense thrown in as well.  All of these make for a fascinating read with plenty of spice that will keep you riveted for much of the story.

Kahara, our female lead, starts off very strong and sure of herself, but once thrust into this new world she becomes very timid and unsure, appearing almost subservient-which felt a bit odd for her character given how she started out.  But as time goes on and she becomes more comfortable with her situation and the brothers, we get to see her strength and tenacity shine through again.

Rom and Rah are a captivating set of ruling twins, both amazingly alpha with attributes that complement each other and make them irresistible as male leads.  I truly would not be able to choose between them, and would have traded places with Kahara in a heartbeat to be able to have them both.

Since this is our introduction to the series there's a lot of world building, but it's a mesmerizing world so the descriptive passages are pretty interesting.  The writing flows quite well, so your interest is held throughout the story.

This definitely is strictly an 18+ read, including some M/F/M scenes, and a few of the steamy scenes get extremely intense.  There's also one harsh and powerful scene with Kahara on the Amon planet that may be disturbing to some, but does contribute to and play an important part in the story.

A very solid 4-star read, and I'm looking forward to reading more in this enthralling series.
