Review: DAMON & PETE: PLAYING WITH FIRE by K.C. Wells writing as Tantalus

DAMON & PETE: PLAYING WITH FIRE
BY K.C. WELLS writing as TANTALUS

Blurb

It started as a bet.
One that Pete had every intention of losing.
Except as the weeks and months went by, the aftermath of that bet brought changes to both their lives.
Profound changes.
One brief kinky session in Damon’s basement set the ball rolling, but that was just sex.
What they ended up with was so much more.

Five previously published short stories appear for the first time in one volume – e-book and paperback – with a bonus: Pete’s Treat, a Valentine’s Day tale with a difference.

Carra's Review

I didn’t get the chance to read the Damon & Pete stories the first time around, but you can be sure I’m VERY glad I dove into the full collection here.  These two are an erotic romance fan’s dream come true—brought together by a previously unknown shared enjoyment of BDSM and various kinks that surfaces after a bet between them, which leads to a deeper connection and so much more.  Go into this one with an open mind…and maybe a fully charged set of batteries! *gasp*

The character background is relatively light, with more of the story concentrating on their current situation and how things develop between the two men after their first insanely hot encounter.  Relationship development is central to their story as they settle into their D/s roles; it’s not all about the sex though their sexual connection does play a strong role in the evolution of their romance.

What I really liked was how you could see the BDSM side enhance their romantic connection, and their romantic connection enhance their D/s relationship.  The trust that develops between them is solid and intense, as is how secure they become in their eventual love for each other.

If you’re here for the naughty side of the coin, you will not be disappointed.  There are plenty of opportunities to indulge, and the more exposure Pete has to it all, the more adventurous and curious he becomes.

This story was a 4.5-star read for me, and I’d definitely be interested in hearing more about the supporting characters that were introduced.  There is one element of the bonus material (“Pete’s Treat”) about which I was wary—as I’m guessing other readers might be too—but be sure to read the section the author adds after the end of the story so you have a better understanding before rushing to judgement.  This book is meant strictly for readers 18+ for adult language and explicit, erotic sexual content.

About the Author

Tantalus

Tantalus is the alter ego of K.C. Wells.

For those who like their stories intensely erotic, featuring hot men and even hotter sex…
Who don’t mind breaking the odd taboo now and again…
Who want to read something that adds a little heat to their fantasies…
…there’s Tantalus.
Because we all need a little tantalizing.

K.C. Wells

K.C. Wells started writing in 2012, although the idea of writing a novel had been in her head since she was a child. But after reading that first gay romance in 2009, she was hooked.

She now writes full time, and the line of men in her head, clamouring to tell their story, is getting longer and longer. If the frequent visits by plot bunnies are anything to go by, that’s not about to change anytime soon.
