An Enemies to Lovers
Shifter, Vampire True Mates story.

Justice Volkov is the youngest Alpha Zenith to ever lead the wolf shifters. Following in his father’s large paw prints was a responsibility he met head on. Now at age thirty-three, he is alpha of the alphas. As a direct descendant of the original Siberian pack, his wolf is bigger and stronger than Justice, himself is sometimes able to control.

“His wolf howled long and hard but Justice kept it inside. It felt like a bass drum beating against his rib cage. The harsh breaths, angry snarls and the determined pacing inside him was overtaking him. All the while… his mate kept calling.”

Justice takes his role of leadership and his legacy very seriously. He has little time for romance, not to mention a true mate. His packs are his priority. With a human government trying to regulate them, an uprising of rogue shifters, and a violent team of scientists trying to experiment on them, Justice has his hands way too full.

Chadwick ‘Wick’ Bentley is not enthusiastic when the captain of his escort tells him he has to leave his comfortable London home and go back to the States. As the Vampire King, he has no choice but to get his species back in line before they cause anymore chaos. At over two-hundred years old, Wick is no one to trifle with, but his smooth, charismatic manner makes him quite unique, despite the negative reputation vampires have. Wick has had nothing but time up to this point. He doesn’t feel the need to make issues pressing. Nothing is urgent in his life. Until he meets Justice. His beloved.

“Natural enemies can’t be mates.” Or so Justice thought. He knows his skepticism and rejection is hurting his mate, so while he fights their connection, Wick gets help from a source very close to Justice to help him win his beloved’s heart. Wick is a force all on his own, but when he’s blessed with a special gift from the Mother herself, not even Justice’s powerful wolf can prevent the prophesy from being fulfilled.

This story DOES NOT contain/mention MPREG.
No multiple pairings. It does not end on a cliffhanger and has an HEA.

Warning: This book is MM paranormal: If you DO NOT like hot, alpha men shifting into large wolves, or vampires feeding from their mates, this may not be your read.

“We obviously don’t understand how the Vampire King’s been fated to be your mate, but there has to be a very big ass cosmic explanation. One that’s way beyond our scope of understanding. None of us know how you’re already semi-linked and able to communicate with him. But Just, you’re smart enough to know that with the vampire and shifter feud threatening our way of life, it has to be more than just a freak of nature that the Vampire f*cking King is your true, destined mate. The King! Winchester Bentley’s first born son and successor. I mean, come on. The Mother didn’t exactly sell you short, bro. Why are you stalling?”
“Figures you’d think that, Mac. You’ve always failed to see the bigger picture. How will anyone follow me when I’ve mated with the enemy? Mated with a person who kills his own kind unapologetically. How could I allow a man like that – with that kind of power and ability – around my shifters? We have young pups to protect, Macauley. I have to be absolutely sure of the vampire’s intentions or I’d be endangering them, and that’s something I will never, ever, do as long as I have breath,” Justice argued, that incessant pounding starting in his head again.
“AZ! AZ, I have news.” The Humboldt pack Alpha, Mikel, didn’t wait for Justice or his brothers to invite him in.
Mikel already knew what was going on with Justice. “What is it, Mikel?”
“One of my pack members works at the Henderson Executive Airport and he called and reported that he saw the Vampire King’s escort boarding their jet. The flight plan was one-way to London City Airport. He didn’t—”
“Ugggh, Alek, help,” Justice cried out, crouching on the floor. No wonder he could hardly feel Wick. The thought that his mate was so far out of his reach drove his wolf into a psychotic frenzy. Justice’s back bowed and his fists balled up hard enough to dig his nails into his palms. His mate was gone and Justice had run him off, now his wolf would torture him until he made it right.
“He’s still here, Justice.” Alpha Mikel hurried to finish his report while Justice’s brother tried to calm him down. “Seven members of the escort were missing, including Chadwick Bentley and his captain. He didn’t leave… not yet.
“My pack is afraid, Alpha. Call to your mate and ease your wolf. There may be some shifters that won’t stand behind you immediately, but you have me and one hundred fifty-two of my pack members standing with you now. That’s a damn good start. We’ll go all the way with you AZ. All the way to the council if we have to. But my pack is in complete panic and uproar. Your shifters are telling you we need you, Justice. We need our Alpha Zenith. We need you to answer. Your. Mate.”

Carra's Review

You would never know when reading Prophesy that this was the first paranormal romance this author has written.  Right from the start of the story, the reader is immersed in a well built world where shifters and vampires are not hiding their existence from humans, and you’re thrown right into the midst of a true mates story that is smack full of passion and intensity.  To say I was totally swallowed up into my reading on this one might be an understatement.

One of the things I love about A.E. Via is that she creates amazing, almost larger than life characters—and she’s especially talented at establishing alpha males.  Both Justice and Wick have classic protector alpha characteristics, are strong and bold leaders, and can be compassionate or mete out discipline when necessary.  They both care very deeply for their respective species, and once mated for each others’ as well.

That passion and intensity I mentioned?  You’ll find it in spades here every time Justice and Wick are together, and you’ll also find their yearning when they’re apart.  Their depth of feeling for each other once they meet and touch is overwhelming, and that shines through in the writing.

Another thing I love about this author is the strength of the supporting characters in her stories.  Prophesy definitely has its fair share of these, from Justice’s family to other packs’ members, as well as to Wick’s guard and staff.  They all contribute so much to the story, giving it greater depth and setting up a framework for future stories in the series that I’m already on edge looking forward to reading, in particular with Alek and Bell, and Taleb and Henry.

There’s no shortage of action and tension either, whether from the mating between Justice and Wick, the issue of the rogue shifter pack, or the larger problem lurking in the background of a clandestine group that’s out to capture and study shifters and vampires.  With all of that and the amazing “special gift” Wick has (there’s your tease, I can’t say more without spoiling an incredible plot point!), I definitely fell down the rabbit hole reading this story.

5 exciting stars for Prophesy, and I’m highly recommending this story to every M/M paranormal romance fan out there.  I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the rest of the series, and I think once you read this you’ll be wanting more too.  This story is for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content.

A.E. Via has been a best-selling author in the beautiful gay romance genre for four years now, but she’s no stranger to MM. She’s been an avid reader of LGBTQ Romance for over fifteen years before she picked up her laptop to place her own kiss on this genre. She’s also the founder and owner of Via Star Wings Books, having published a couple great new up and coming MM authors.

A.E. has a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Virginia Wesleyan College that she used to start her own paralegal firm after she graduated in 2008. She spent five years preparing and filing bankruptcy petitions for struggling blue collar workers who couldn’t afford to file with a lawyer. It was a rewarding and satisfying career… but another path called to her. Writing.

A.E.’s writing embodies everything from hopelessly romantic to adventure, to scandalous. Stories that often include intriguing edges and twists that take readers to new, thought-provoking depths.

Now that she’s gotten over her 10 books published hump, she’s kind of known now for her hardcore, play rough and love hard, bad boy, alphas. However, she does like to push herself to step out of her comfort zone, exploring with different tropes, but she won’t push herself into a whole other genre. She’s head over heels for MM romance and has tons of more hot stories to tell.
