Tour-Review & Giveaway: Dangerously Yours by Lark Brennan

Dangerously Yours Synopsis:
The Caribbean: home to crystalline beaches, scorching passions, and a twisted power hell-bent on destruction. DANGEROUSLY YOURS is a sizzling paranormal romance in which love is not the only force of nature…

Whales don’t just vanish from the ocean, but marine biologist Lex Durand saw one do just that. With years of research at stake and driven by the imperatives of her telepathic bloodline, she seeks the help of scientist-in-hiding Bodie Flynn—a man with little regard for others, and even less regard for Lex’s wealthy and secretive family. But while Lex was warned Bodie would be difficult, she never expects to find he has psychic abilities equal to her own.

Bodie despises being trapped in Durand Tech’s version of the witness protection program, and when a gorgeous, whip-smart Durand heiress lands on his beach asking for help, he’s unhappier still. The last person he wants in his life is the sister of the man who ruined him, but the disappearance of Lex’s whales could be related to the bizarre energy shifts he’s been studying in the Caribbean. He doesn’t trust Lex, but he needs her data, and isn’t above using her to get it.

As the dangerous force behind the changing seas becomes deadly, Lex and Bodie must put aside their personal agendas to track down a powerful foe. But when their attraction reaches a boiling point, facing their feelings may prove the hardest battle yet.

My Review
Now this was one heck of a fascinating read.  It's a paranormal/suspense type story that does have a romantic element to it, but that takes a back seat to the action and sci-fi elements that are woven into the tale.  And while I would have liked to have more romantic interaction between the main characters, all of the other things that were going on made for plenty to keep me intrigued with the story and thoroughly engaged.

I really liked both main characters, Bodie and Lex.  Bodie is a strong, amazingly intelligent man (oh yeah...let us not forget hot and sexy, right?), and he's got some pretty interesting talents that are not quite natural.  Lex has some unique talents as well, and she's one hell of a strong, independent kick-ass woman who can take care of herself.

The author has created a captivating world, and for a reader like me who loves the scientific side of things I was totally enjoying that aspect of this story, which came across as very realistic and made everything pretty darn interesting.  Throw in the escalating suspense and excitement, and Dangerously Yours had me hooked.

When it came to the relationship between Bodie and Lex, I didn't quite feel the level of emotion and connection that I would have expected given how they wound up at the end.  It's that and the extremely light romantic elements in the story that have me giving Dangerously Yours 4 stars...I would need to have felt more of an emotional attachment between Bodie and Lex, and more going on between them in that aspect (not necessarily physical) to be able to feel the chemistry between them.  I just didn't quite get that here-though I felt there was plenty of potential for it if it had been explored more in this story.  But the other elements of the book more than made up for this, and if you're a romantic suspense/paranormal suspense fan, you'll definitely enjoy this book.  Recommended for 18+ due to adult language and some sexual content.

  1. I liked both the book synopsis, and the review. I want to read this story it has been a while since I've read a story that has characters with psychic abilities.
