Excerpt

The club was always packed on the weekends. More than just members were allowed to party. Non-members paid for their drinks as well as for other things if someone wanted to take part.

They were getting enough outsiders for Daruss to consider charging for entry. He’d have to bring it up with the guys to see what they thought. They had enough income streams and made a good enough living that every member got a piece of the pie. Charging for entry would put even more money in their pockets.

Skippy was on bouncer duty. There was always one asshole who put his hands on one of the boys. Everyone knew the Dragon Skulls didn’t allow unwanted touches, looks, or anything else for that matter. But a newbie would come along and mess up. Skippy was spoiling for a fight on a normal day. Whenever it was his turn to watch over everyone the cops were called. It had gotten so bad the sheriff called Daruss once a month to get the schedule.

For the time being everyone was having a good time though.

Casper, their resident bartender, had one of the other members help on the weekend. They split the tips and the cash Daruss gave them after the night was over.

Most of the time, whoever helped did so because they needed the money. But Jonik was the one behind the bar with Casper. Daruss knew money didn’t factor in for him.

Jonik had met his mate not long ago. The bonding was fresh. The little guy had a lot of trauma to work through. Part of the process was reacclimating back into society. But the Dragon Skulls clubhouse wasn’t a normal place to be. Still, Jonik’s mate, Wren, sat on a stool behind the bar and watched every move Jonik made as if he thought he would disappear if Wren didn’t keep an eye on him.

Jonik set him up at the music thing they had in the corner. It wasn’t DJ equipment so much as someone’s cellphone hooked up to Bluetooth playing music through the speakers. It worked well enough. Wren did a fantastic job of picking the right tunes for the vibe of the room.

Even Daruss’s boy was dancing. Jude didn’t always. He preferred to drive Daruss crazy with lust by sitting on his lap and grinding against him. Of course, Jude’s idea of dancing was to shimmy and shake as he bent at the waist. Daruss had a front row seat to bare ass cheeks jiggling like they meant business.

Daruss was five seconds away from kicking out whoever was in the club bedroom and having his way with him—that was Jude’s goal.

When Jude danced his way to a standing position again and turned, Daruss crooked his finger and patted his thigh, inviting Jude to come sit on his lap.

Jude grinned and started to close the distance between them. He hadn’t quite made it off the dance floor when an outsider grabbed his arm. Jude’s smile stayed in place for about a second and then he scowled. He said something, pointing to Daruss.

When Jude tried to pull his arm out of the guy’s grasp Daruss was up and out of his seat. Daruss had the man by the throat before he knew what was happening.

People moved out of the way when Daruss lifted him off his feet and carried him to the door. Several of the outsiders’ eyes were wide. There were a lot of humans in the crowd. More than on a normal night. They didn’t know about dragon shifters, so they hadn’t expected that level of strength from Daruss. Especially not with such a big person.

As soon as Daruss was outside, he dropped the guy and then crouched in front of him, letting his eyes and hands shift. “No means no inside the club.”

I'm told Nethermire House is haunted, but the truth is even stranger.

Blurb

Nethermire is home to an eccentric 80-year-old and the young man she claims is her great-nephew.

Except he's not.

He's a demon.

Brin's chaotic, bratty ways draw me to him. When he calls me Daddy, I'm a goner. I want to protect him, take care of him, and call him mine.

But when he gets summoned to hell, our happiness is shattered.

Can I recall him to my side, or will I lose him forever?

Recalling My Demon is a standalone MM paranormal romance in the Possessive Love multi-author series. It has an age-gap relationship between a bratty demon who needs someone to love him more than he realises and an ex-priest who's now a Daddy.

Excerpt

“Nurse Ian.” He raises his thick, dark brows a fraction, his eyes sparkling as he smirks. “Mo—Martha has told me all about you.” His voice is soft, light, and playful.

“You’re her grand-nephew?”

“Brin.” He flicks his gaze over me. “You are gorgeous.”

I take a half step back. “Uh—”

“I shouldn’t have said that, should I?” He runs his thumb over his bottom lip. “I’d apologise, except it’s true. Hm, you are one gorgeous man.”

So is he. I swallow, needing to maintain my composure and remain professional. “Martha is through here.” I gesture to the lounge.

“She likes that room. Have you seen the rest of the house? I could give you a tour.”

“No, I haven’t.”

Brin flounces into the house, kicks his boots off, and wanders into the lounge. I follow in his wake. He leans down to kiss his great-aunt on the forehead, grabs a cake off the plate, and sits in a chair with one leg looped over the arm. He peels the case away from the cake and takes a big bite. Crumbs drop onto his chin, so he flicks his tongue out to lick them off.

“Ian is here to do my welfare check,” Martha explains.

“I guessed.” Brin stares at me as he devours the rest of the cake.

I can’t take my eyes off him.

“Don’t let me stop you from doing your job. I love watching a man in uniform work.” He winks.

“You’ll have to forgive him. My grand-nephew is a terrible flirt,” Martha says.

I scrabble to get the blood pressure monitor out of my bag and kneel beside Martha.

“A man in uniform on his knees. Sexy.”

“Brin,” Martha says, her tone not as sharp and short as I’d expect for a true admonishment.

“What? It’s true.”

Carra's Review

Brin is absolutely a naughty one.  But in his defense, he really doesn’t know any better given his situation.  He’s forthright and goes for what he wants.  Ian is a bit more reserved, particularly given his background, but once he finally gives himself the green light, it’s a whole other ballgame.

I did find Brin to be a perfect fit for the role of a boy given his somewhat bratty nature, plus his relatively sheltered upbringing.  Ian is just the right Daddy for him though, and while some may feel like things moved quickly for them, the story actually plays out over time .  The two of them make an excellent match, both in the bedroom and out.

This story is pretty lighthearted and an easy, quick read.  The bit of excitement comes in the last third once Brin is pulled back to hell, and Ian has to figure out how to get him back.  If you go into this without the expectation of anything deep or profound, you’ll find yourself enjoying a playful boy and a Daddy trying to keep him in line.

At just over 200 pages, I read Recalling My Demon in an afternoon and found it to be a fun story.  If you’re looking for something light and love a bratty, straightforward boy then this book will fit the bill.  Recommended for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content.

Blurb

An explosive found family romance in the Bearytales in the Wood world.

Brad feels out of place in his tight-knit family. His six gay Daddy brothers are all coupled up, leaving Brad as the lone Daddy without a boy to love. The drama of the past two years has eased and now, he’s lonely.

Brad has always found solace in his barn, where he spends his days blowing things up and writing poetry about the explosive chaos. He’s even gotten a publishing contract although he isn’t sure what he’s meant to do with it.

Then a shy young man turns up at Christmas Tree farm from his publisher. He’s meant to be there to illustrate Brad’s book, but what he can’t remember is he and Brad have met before. The rest of the family can though, from the smirks.

No matter what he wants, Eric knows he’s there just until the book is complete. Brad wants him to stay forever in his arms. It’s an impossible choice for Eric. Then danger knocks at the cabin door…

Teaser Excerpt

Being confronted with three men scowling at him was disconcerting, especially the two huge guys blocking the doorway. Then another ten men stared at him from a table piled high with food.

Eric’s stomach growled at the delicious aroma. Was that meatloaf? He tried to sniff without being obvious. His mouth watered. It was meatloaf, one of Eric’s all-time favorite meals.

But he was here to do a job, not fill his belly. He was cold and hungry. It had been a long ride here. And now his client, who was another man mountain, had no idea he was coming. Eric just prayed they didn’t throw him out. He wasn’t sure he could face that road so soon. He swore he’d driven up with his eyes shut.

The biggest one squinted at him. “Isn’t he that guy you stuck your…ow!”

The other bear had just elbowed him in the ribs. “What did you do that for?”

“Just bring him over here,” a young guy, maybe Eric’s age, said. “He looks frozen. Join us for lunch, Eric. There’s a space next to Brad.”

Eric turned to Brad, who still stared at him, looking just as confused as he was. “Is that okay?” he asked hesitantly.

Brad seemed to shake himself. “Sure. Come meet my family.”

Eric was sure he mumbled “…again,” but he must have misheard.

This was how Eric found himself between Brad and a much smaller blond-haired boy…man, Eric corrected himself hastily.

“Eric, it’s good to see you again,” the small man said.

Eric frowned. “Do I know you?”

There was a silence around the table and Eric caught them looking at each other.

“You don’t remember me…us?” Brad asked.

Eric bit his lip. “I have amnesia. I was in a car accident last year. I don’t remember anything before then.”

They all looked horrified. Eric was used to that expression. What he wasn’t used to was people who said they knew him.

“The food is getting cold,” one of the big men grumbled. He wasn’t big, he was massive, and all muscle. No wonder he liked his food.

“Quick introductions,” the little guy said, “then you can eat. I’m Vinny. This is Damien. He’s mine.” He pointed to one of the men with a graying beard who had greeted him at the door. “And so is Rexy.”

Eric blinked. The little man had two boyfriends?

“Rexy’s my dog,” Vinny said, pointing to a small black mutt of indeterminate breed, sacked out in front of the stove.

“Oh.” Eric nodded to show Vinny he understood.

What had he just walked into?

“Down, boy,” the man said, with a fond smile. “He’s Brad’s.”

Eric’s jaw dropped and then he heard a choking sound on the other side of him.  He turned to see Brad staring across him.

“What the hell, Damien?” Brad’s voice cracked.

“I’m sorry, Eric,” the man who’d invited him to sit said. “You’ll get used to us. It’s always like this. I’m Lyle. This is my…boyfriend. This is Gruff.”

He pointed to a huge man on one side of him. Gruff looked younger than Brad or Vinny’s guy. He also looked unhappy at something Lyle had said.

“Not again.”

Eric turned to see who had spoken. Massive guy smiled at him but there was a cautious edge Eric didn’t understand.

“Eric, I’m PJ. This is my boy, Jack.”

Jack waved at him. He looked to be in his mid-twenties. His smile was friendly enough.

“Look, kid, we’re all gay,” PJ said. “Do you have a problem with that?”

“No,” Eric squeaked.

“Good. We’re all brothers. The big dudes are my brothers by blood. The little dudes are my brothers by love. No, Damien, you can’t start sniffling now.” PJ turned to fix his gaze on Eric. “And we’re all in Daddy/boy relationships. Do you have a problem with that, too?”
