Blurb:

From New York Times bestseller Katy Regnery comes another timeless tale of love everlasting!

Loosely inspired by the legend of Camelot, Dark Sexy Knight tells the story of dinner theater knight Colt Lane, who meets down-on-her-luck Verity Gwynn on the worst day of her life. Evicted from their home, Verity and her special-needs brother, Ryan, must find jobs or risk being separated. Colt, who is the furthest-possible thing from a white knight in real life, comes to their unlikely rescue, quickly cementing his place in Verity’s heart.

Colt has dark, deeply buried secrets that keep his smile hidden and his eyes down, which has kept people away . . . until he meets Verity, who seems immune to his gruff manners and taciturn ways. The more time Colt spends with her, the more he longs for her sweetness in his life and yearns to be the knight in shining armor she so desperately needs. Certain he will lose her if she learns the truth about his past, he must decide if he can trust her with his yesterday in order to build a beautiful tomorrow.

**Contemporary Romance. Due to profanity, mild violence and very strong sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.**

All novels in the ~a modern fairytale~ collection are written as fundraisers.

Carra's Review

There are many reasons why Katy Regnery is an auto-buy author for me, and why I also recommend her books to anyone who likes romance novels.  Dark Sexy Knight highlights several of those reasons, including characters you will really care about, a sweet romance with a nice shot of drama, and a story that will no doubt make you tear up at some point or another.  The story is told from both Colton and Verity's points of view so you also get more depth and a closer look at each character's thoughts and motivations.

For me, this story was totally character driven and centered.  Verity is the picture of sweetness and innocence (okay, maybe not totally innocent, but you get what I mean, right?), and is extremely responsible and devoted to her developmentally disabled brother.  Colton presents an opposite picture in part-he's got the whole bad boy/dark knight thing going on and has a bit of a checkered past...but he too shoulders immense responsibility and exhibits tremendous compassion for others-unless they present a danger to those he loves.

From the moment the two meet, things just click-even if Colt doesn't want them to-and from there things progress as you might expect for a romance story.  The chemistry between Colt and Verity is intense, and their intimate scenes will have you reaching for the ice to cool yourself off.  But of course, there's always something, and Colt's fiery temper rises to the forefront to provide plenty of drama.

There are some really great supporting characters, with Verity's brother Ryan and Colt's cousin Melody being absolutely phenomenal and deeply connected to the story (I loved the scene at the zoo!  You'll understand why when you get to it *all you need is love*), and Joe from their job is so sweet and kind.  There's not just one but several nasties that you'll be very ready to throw something at thanks to their intolerant, rude, and downright mean ways...I was ready to slap them all upside their heads, that's for sure!

Dark Sexy Knight was a 4.5-star read for me, with my only gripes being things I saw in the story that-as someone who's worked in human resources for many years-made me cringe with how they were handled by both the main characters and the HR lady as well.  If you are a contemporary romance fan, this is one book that deserves your undivided attention and a place in your library.  Recommended for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content.
