Synopsis

Eric Schuster is a successful guy. He’s part owner of a highly successful tech firm, he has a supportive family and a great group of close friends. But something is missing. Or maybe he’s reacting to his business partner and ex’s wedding news. He knows his former lover is making a big mistake but he also knows it’s time to move on. And hopefully avoid falling for another friend.

Zane Richards is an avid sailor and surfer with a laid-back approach to life. He firmly believes there’s a time and place for everything if you’re willing to take a chance. Like letting his best friend know he’s interested in being much more than friends. Eric has always been half in love with Zane but going from friends to lovers isn’t an easy sell for someone protecting his heart. Eric will have to decide if he’s willing to risk it all by leaning into love.

Carra's Review

I am such a huge fan of the friends-to-more trope, I just can’t get enough of these kinds of stories.  This is actually the first book I’ve read by this author (though I have a bunch of books on my TBR just waiting for me), and I’m now trying to figure some extra time into my reading schedule because I need to read more of Lane Hayes’ work!  Leaning Into Love is an amazing example of the trope, and now I’m excited for more in this series.

Eric and Zane are already so comfortable with each other as best friends, if only one of them would take that one step further.  Even with the shorter length of this story, the development of this next stage in Eric and Zane’s relationship feels natural and not at all rushed-it’s more like a snapshot of this point in their lives.  They easily slot into each other’s lives, and the chemistry is right there, all bottled up and ready to be unleashed.

Nick’s character rubbed me the wrong way, but I’m hoping he’ll be someone who is redeemed in a future book.  He’s really the one who is the source of the bit of tension in the story, though I think Eric might have made a tad more drama out of Nick’s actions than he really needed to.

A really enjoyable sweet yet spicy read, Leaning Into Love was a 4.5-star read for me, and I think it’s a great start to the coming series.  I can’t wait to get started on the rest of this author’s books now!  I’d recommend this story to any M/M romance fan, and it is meant for readers 18+ for adult language and M/M sexual content.
