Book Review: ACCIDENTALLY ON PURPOSE by Jill Shalvis (A Heartbreaker Bay Novel)

ACCIDENTALLY ON PURPOSE
A Heartbreaker Bay Novel
by New York Times bestselling author
JILL SHALVIS

There’s no such thing as a little in love…

Elle Wheaten’s priorities: friends, career, and kick-ass shoes. Then there’s the muscular wall of stubbornness that’s security expert Archer Hunt—who comes before everything else. No point in telling Mr. “Feels-Free Zone” that, though. Elle will just see other men until she gets over Archer . . . which should only take a lifetime . . .

There’s no such thing as a little in lust…

Archer’s wanted the best for Elle ever since he sacrificed his law-enforcement career to save her. But now that she’s earned happiness and success, Archer just wants Elle 24/7. Their chemistry could start the next San Francisco Earthquake, and Archer doesn’t want to be responsible for the damage. The alternative? Watch her go out with guys who aren’t him . . .

There is such a thing as…

As far as Archer’s concerned, nobody is good enough for Elle. But when he sets out to prove it by sabotaging her dates, she gets mad—and things get hot as hell. Now Archer has a new mission: prove to Elle that her perfect man has been here all along…

Carra's Review

Accidentally on Purpose is classic Jill Shalvis, and was a pretty entertaining read.  Great characters with plenty of depth, an engaging plot that has just the right balance of drama, romance and tension...put them together and you've got a story that pulls you in and keeps you there.

I liked Elle's tough, strong attitude--she's independent and headstrong, very much a survivor.  Archer is your definitive alpha male-protective and powerful, always putting others first.  They do sure bump heads in this story, both of them stubborn yet wanting.  They're surrounded by a devoted and loyal group of friends-the kind you hope you'll have to help keep you going when things are tough and support you no matter what.

I was immediately suspicious when Elle's sister Morgan popped around, and actually didn't care much for her at all.  I preferred the drama and tension that came naturally from Elle and Archer's head butting and hot/cold/super hot conflict they had going on to the issues Morgan stirred up.  But the extra drama she brought along also made for more of the turmoil between Elle and Archer, so in the end I was okay with the trouble she brought in.

4 solid stars for Accidentally on Purpose, and I definitely would recommend this story to any romance fan-and if you're a fan of Jill Shalvis already, you'll be very happy with this book.  This story is meant for readers 18+ for adult themes and sexual content.  While this book is part of the Heartbreaker Bay series, it can be read as a standalone and still be enjoyed on its own.
