When I first started reading Searching for Beautiful, I was looking forward to an easy, friends-to-more story. Leave it to Jennifer Probst to blow easy out of the water. From a "simple" runaway bride taking off with her best friend to secrets about her relationship with her fiancé being revealed (it pays to listen to your gut people!), to the friends-to-more starting to grow...let's just say that the author is going to take you from a simple, fun type of storyline until you end up at an emotion-ripping climax (and-oh yeah-some utterly explosive other types of those as well)...and you're going to enjoy the hell out of the ride.
I was immensely proud of Genevieve's character, and how she learns to listen to her inner voice again and becomes a strong woman who stands up for herself and goes after what she wants. Her best friend Wolfe? I think the letters OMG came around with him in mind. Every woman's oh-so-tasty dream, he has the looks, the attitude, the severely tortured past and the consistently lingering doubts and issues...in addition to being the most supportive and protective friend you could ever find. The two of them never really thought of each other in any other way, but when things get crazy? That's when the real fun begins...and excitement...and sexual tension...and lets not forget emotional turmoil.
I can say without any room for doubt that Wolfe made the story for me. His character is absolutely brilliant, with uncharted depth and created to snatch up your heart. He sure did take mine (he can keep it...believe me, you'll give him yours as well).
Friends to lovers to more-well, that always comes with complications, and this story is no exception. What you get here though is more complex, more gripping...just completely MORE. It will grab you, turn you inside out and back again. You're going to love it.
5 smashing stars for Searching for Beautiful, recommended only for 18+ due to language and adult sexual scenes (for which you'll want a high-powered cooling fan and some bags of ice...unless you have a significant other nearby). I can't wait to see how the next one in the series goes!
