Book Description
Bliss Carrington has known Jimmy most of her life, since Kindergarten to be exact. He took on the role of the big brother Bliss never had, breaking Bliss out of her shy shell, encouraging her to have fun in high school, and pushing her to live her life. It’s always been friendship between them until one day, she realized, it wasn’t. Now seeing women everywhere swoon over Jim Brason, NFL's head quarterback of the New York Cougars, is enough to drive her to madness.
My Review
In a nutshell-emotional, angst-ridden, full of tension (sexual and otherwise) and simply unputdownable.
The characters. So well developed, easy to identify with, and also easy to empathize with. By the time you're done, you feel like you've known them since you were six years old as well. You'll become deeply invested in their storyline and their happiness-as well as their sadness and pain. Yes, I cried (my husband even caught me crying and was astonished that a book made that happen).
There's so much want, so much love-even if not admitted-and so much heartbreak...this story will have you on the edge of your seat, bring you up high, crash you down and put you back together again. And I absolutely loved it. The whole friends-to-more trope is one of my faves and this one truly does not disappoint.
The story does bounce back and forth between the present and the past-yes, even all the way back to when Bliss and Jimmy were six years old-but those flashback come at just the right times to help explain present-day events happening at those points in the book.
Truly engaging, it may have you pulling out your hair at times-but the overall story is VERY worth it. I flew right through this wonderful story, and though I would have loved to see an epilogue, it's still an exceptional read as is. 5 amazing stars, and I would highly recommend it to any romance fan, especially those who love friends-to-lovers stories.
