New Release: EXTRACTING MATEO by T.L. Reeve & Michele Ryan (Project ROOT #2)

Book Synopsis

Noah Hanover doesn’t mix business with pleasure—ever. His relationship and subsequent marriage to Mateo Aquino, hasn’t even been a blip on his team’s radar. He enjoys the peace and quiet when he’s able to come home to his husband and telling anyone would destroy his secret double life.

High school history teacher, Mateo Aquino, loves his job and his kids and is always willing to help anyone in need. When a man approaches him appearing lost, Mateo is thrust into the middle of a war he had no idea was happening around him.

In order to save Mateo’s life, Noah must expose the one thing he liked to keep tucked away—his marriage. With the help of Noah’s teammates, John “Tex” Keegan, and two temporary new recruits for R.O.O.T: Scotty “Ears” Reisner and AJ “Two Hands” Hoover, Noah will set out to find his husband.

However, when the suspect escapes, Mateo and Noah are thrown into a new reality where Noah’s job is exposed, and the things Mateo took for granted are destroyed. Can Mateo accept Noah’s double life? Will Noah be able to track down Mateo’s kidnapper before he strikes again? Or, are they once again, running out of time?

Guest Post: THE MEN OF HIDDEN CREEK NEW SEASON by E. Davies

Please welcome author E. Davies to Making it Happen!

Thank you for inviting me to your blog today!

I wanted to share some special news with you. You might have heard of the Men of Hidden Creek before. This series has already seen three seasons, first launching in April 2018. Each season of MOHC happens at roughly the same time, so you see crossovers with other books happening in the background. That's why you can read each season in any order you like. For each season, we picked a suggested order that we think flows well. Everyone usually comes up with their own favorite order after reading them! :)

You don't need to read previous seasons, since we always reestablish the world and characters in later seasons. But if you want to start from the beginning, you'll spot the most crossovers. So there’s still time to catch up before… well… the big news coming in a moment!

And now for the news… we were planning to finish our time in Hidden Creek at the end of season three, but we just couldn’t stay away. We knew there were too many unfinished stories to be told… so we’re back for season four, launching in August-September 2019.

Unlike previous seasons, these books will be launching every week over six weeks. And they will all be available in ebook, audio, and print on release day, so you can keep up with the world as it unfolds!

Here’s the blurb for Radiant, the first book in this season (by Blake Roland).

“Nothing is going to keep us apart.”

Dalton Powell has been living a lie. Terrified of coming out as bisexual, he’s given up on romance. Instead, he finds solace in hard work on his family’s struggling ranch. But his life is turned upside down as his past mistakes come back to haunt him—and steal his heart.

Thomas Reed never expected to come back to Hidden Creek. Old wounds are reopened as he returns to his family’s ranch and finds himself face to face with the last person he ever wanted to see again: Dalton. Despite his initial distrust, Thomas can’t deny the overpowering attraction between them.

Letting go of the past is hard when their families’ generations-long feud throws up obstacles at every turn. Forgiveness never comes easy, but they are determined to prove to their families that love really can overcome anything. But can they hold themselves together long enough to succeed?

Welcome to Hidden Creek, Texas, where the heart knows what it wants, and where true love lives happily ever after. Every Men of Hidden Creek novel can be read on its own, but keep an eye out for familiar faces around town! This book contains romantic horseback rides, a thrilling rodeo, and a kiss that could finally end a bitter feud.

The entire season is available for preorder, if you want to make sure you don’t miss a story. We have a great lineup of established Men of Hidden Creek veterans and new authors coming to you this season…

Excerpt
The cool night air wraps around me, the din of the bar fading as soon as the door closes behind me, leaving only the scattered sound of cars passing and the occasional drunken laugh escaping into the night. An overwhelming emotional exhaustion hits me, and the task of walking the half-block to my car seems insurmountable. I lean against the rough brick outside of the bar and tilt my head back, looking up at the expansive night sky. The light illuminating the bar entrance flickers, and I close my eyes as an inescapable feeling of loneliness hits me square in the chest and nearly brings me to my knees. I drag in a harsh breath, putting a hand over my heart, and wonder for the millionth time about my heart donor. Did he love someone so much he could hardly breathe? Is there someone out there still who loved him the same?

I drag my fingers to the center of my chest, tracing the raised edges of my scar through the soft fabric of my shirt. I can feel the beat, steady and even against my palm, and I think about the man who saved my life. I don’t know a damn thing about him, but that doesn’t stop me from wondering who he was, what kind of a life he lived, who loved him but selflessly made the sacrifice to save the life of a complete stranger?

Carra's Review

Oh my goodness, EVERYTHING about this story just reached out and grabbed me.  It’s one of those “dammit, I’m already crying” books, and even after the initial bawl-fest those tears kept popping up here and there along the way.  But it was SO good.  Yes, it was emotional.  And yes, at times there was some frustration with Easton for how he handled things.  But I so very much wanted Easton to find his happiness again because I felt so much for him.

If you’ve ever seen the movie Return to Me (Duchovny, Driver), the initial setup is similar.  But here the author gives the story its own originality, and gives readers two main characters with whom it is easy to become emotionally attached.  I certainly did, even when Easton was being frustrating by keeping a secret—a BIG secret—from River.

With Easton, my heart broke for him from the very start.  Unless someone has been in his same situation, I don’t think anyone can truly comprehend what he had to go through, and how deeply it affected him.  With River, he was just a beautiful person all around, and with the way he always wonders what it would be like to find that one true love, I really wanted him to be able to find that person.

The development of their relationship felt natural (or as natural as it could with Easton’s secret hanging over things), nothing felt rushed.  I kept rooting for the two of them while at the same time wanting to give Easton a shake and say “tell him, tell him!”, but understanding why he was afraid to do it.

Both Easton and River had good friends to support them, and I loved both of those characters.  Fox was Easton’s husband’s best friend, and now is pretty much Easton’s best friend and voice of reason (even if Easton doesn’t want to listen).  Brandon is River’s best friend, and the understanding and support he shows while River is trying to work things out regarding his attraction to Easton is wonderful.  I’m hoping we’ll get to see more of both of these guys in another book.

Even with as frustrating as Easton could be with his secret, Change of Heart was still a 5-star read for me, and is a story I highly recommend for any M/M romance fan.  Go into it prepared for the emotions because you’re going to get all the feels.  The adult language and sexual content so make this book one for readers 18+.

About the Author

Author K.M.Neuhold is a complete romance junkie, a total sap in every way. She started her journey as an author in new adult, MF romance, but after a chance reading of an MM book she was completely hooked on everything about lovely- and sometimes damaged- men finding their Happily Ever After together. She has a strong passion for writing characters with a lot of heart and soul, and a bit of humor as well. And she fully admits that her OCD tendencies of making sure every side character has a full backstory will likely always lead to every book having a spin-off or series. When she's not writing she's a lion tamer, an astronaut, and a superhero...just kidding, she's likely watching Netflix and snuggling with her husky while her amazing husband brings her coffee.

Guest Post-New Release: TRIPLE THREAT by Davidson King (Haven Hart #6)

Please welcome Davidson King to Making it Happen!

I am so excited to be here and have the opportunity to share my new release with you. Triple Threat is book six in my Haven Hart series. It’s also the only ménage I’ve ever written. Each book follows a story arc all leading up to the last book that will release in September.  But while they all are working toward that book there are little conclusions throughout the series.

Snow and Christopher, Teddy and Riordan, Bill and Mace, Black and Quill, and Jones, Lee, and Ginger. They all have found their happiness and things HAVE resolved. It’s just the age old question: Who is the Hart heir?

We will find that out, I promise. In the mean time do read the series in order starting with Snow Falling. All are on KU so if you have Kindle Unlimited you can read them that way.

Triple Threat Blurb

Lee, Jones, and Ginger deal with dangerous situations and mounting stress daily working for the most powerful assassin organization in the world. All of those things seem like a walk in the park compared to the friction that sparks between them. When all three are assigned to the same job, ignoring the heat from the inferno of desire becomes impossible.

Lee is a master at deciphering codes, skilled in hacking complicated systems, and never misses a target, even from over fifty miles away. His feelings for Jones and Ginger, however, may be the first code he’s unable to crack.

Jones deals in absolutes, but the road to his past is paved with bodies and regrets. Getting Lee to acknowledge the pull they both feel toward Ginger may be the hardest mission he’s ever had to face.

Ginger struggles to cope with the overwhelming guilt that accompanies this new job. Falling for these hired killers will be a risk—one that could wind up with him losing in the end or gaining everything he’s ever wanted.

As the three work together to take down a human trafficking ring—and save a desperate soul—time is of the essence. Their lives are on the line as mysteries unfold and unexpected encounters throw them off course. Will Lee, Jones, and Ginger let doubts come between them, distracting them from their mission and blocking any hope of love? Or can they face the toughest challenge of their lives and become…a triple threat?

Guest Post & Giveaway: BOOKS I WISH I HAD WRITTEN... by RJ Scott

Please give a warm welcome to RJ Scott!

Books I wish I had written...

It’s easy to look at other people’s books and feel envious. They may have perfect prose, they may have a theme that resonates with me, or they may have just written the most perfect MM romance of all time. As an author I read a lot of books and some of them... I REALLY wish I’d written them first! LOL... including...

Marie Sexton - Promises, Trailer Trash, Winter Oranges. Both of these books are perfect. They are beautifully written, emotional, thoughtful, and romantic stories.

Jordan L Hawk - SPECTR. Jordan’s mind is a scary fascinating place - how she comes up with her concepts is completely beyond me. The back story, the alternate world, the incredible characterisations. Love...

Eli Easton - How to Howl at the Moon, The mating of Michael, The Lion and the Crow, Any of her Christmas books. Eli is another go-to author, and one that I can guarantee a brilliant read from. I’ve just Beta read the latest quickened book (How to run with the wolves) and it was perfection. Emotional, incredible story telling and world building, just perfect. And what an amazing idea to write about.

Avery Cockburn - Playing for Keeps (Glasgow Lads) - the chemistry in this book is so well written, and the writing is as gritty as Glasgow.

VL Locey - The Point Shot Trilogy. Victor - one of the best characters I’ve read, unapologetically rude, in your face, and prickly. It’s no wonder we ended up writing hockey together...

LC Chase - Pickup Men. Cowboys, rough, raw, exciting, perfect rodeo bull riding romance.

Nora Roberts - the Chesapeake Series - I could read and re-read these books over and over. Beautiful family-found theme which I love.

Garrett Leigh - Slide. Gritty, emotional, powerful.
