Truths come out and trust is put to the test. Can the All Cocks family find the happiness they deserve?

Blurb

Dusty Anderson left his hometown in Justin, Texas, for the Big Apple not long after graduating high school with dreams of becoming an actor. A year later, no closer to realizing his dream but pretty damn close to being broke, he comes across a flyer in a local gay bar that provides a solution to his dilemma.

Six years later, Dusty has all but forgotten his dream to be an actor. The family he gained when he went to work at All Cocks and the job itself are enough for him - for now, at least.

David Thompson is barely 21, high on life and starting his second year at NYU as an art student. Now that he is old enough to enjoy the city’s nightlife, David finds his first crush at a local hot spot in the village, The Monster Bar. Young love is laid to rest, though, when David comes out to his mother and older brother...with disastrous results.

A tragic incident at the hands of David’s brother changes the course of all of their lives and brings the two together, but is it coincidence or fate? Regardless of unlikely circumstance, Dusty is inexplicably drawn to David, who suddenly finds himself alone in the world. Protective of David from the start, Dusty realizes his extended family at All Cocks and his best friend Kory will not understand this new relationship. Fearing the worst, Dusty plays a dangerous game of hide-and-seek, risking everything to keep David safe and sheltered.

But hiding can only last for so long, and David and Dusty aren’t the only ones dealing with uncertainties. The Dimir men find that the one thing they’ve longed for might be within reach and Dusty’s father, Dean, arrives in town unexpectedly with secrets of his own.

Note: This book was previously released in the All Cocks Stories series. This book is intended for mature listeners due to adult content.

Carra's Review

What is it about a story where the two lead characters are inexplicably drawn to each other that pulls me in? From the start in Hide and Seek Dusty is drawn to David, like he can't help but be captivated by this sweet, innocent, broken young man-ever before they even officially meet. It's David's innocence that seems to encourage Dusty's attachment to him from the moment Dusty sees him, and also provokes a fierce protective streak in Dusty, starting them on the path to friendship and so much more.

I simply adored both Dusty and David. Dusty is independent, caring and lives his life on his own terms. Before the incident with his brother, David was not accepted by his brother or mother because he is gay, and was subject to emotional and eventually physical abuse-which ultimately led to David and Dusty finding each other. Their relationship evolves slowly, with Dusty trying to do what's best for David-even if that means suppressing his own feelings. At least, until he discovers those feelings are returned. Dusty's unconditional caring and acceptance of David helps David feel safe and comfortable, and soon leads to so much more between them.

This story is filled with intense emotions, and touches on situations that no one should ever have to go through-especially with their own family. My heart went out to David for all that he had to endure, and even after finishing the story he still owns a piece of it. To me, Dusty was like a knight in shining armor, and the way he constantly looked out for David and kept trying to protect him was heartwarming and obviously fueled by the deep feelings it was obvious he developed early on.

I loved seeing all the characters from the previous All Cocks books, and the way the feeling of family among them all continues to grow and evolve in this story. In addition to Dusty and David's relationship, we get glimpses into the lives of the other couples and throuples and get to share in new developments with them that any follower of the series will be ecstatic to discover. For me, it did feel like there was a lot going on in the last 10-15% of the story, almost a bit too much, but it does set the stage for the continuation of the series-and I can't wait to see where things go from here!

Hide and Seek was a 4.5-star read for me, and I think it's perfect addition to the series. It's sweet with a heavy dash of spice, and I think readers will find Dusty and David an absolutely wonderful match. This story could be read as a standalone, but honestly it's my opinion that you'll enjoy it a heck of a lot more if you read this series in order since the events that result in Dusty and David meeting feature prominently in the prior stories. I highly recommend this story to M/M romance fans, and this is for readers 18+ only due to adult language and M/M sexual content, as well as scenes of physical abuse and trauma.

The narration: This was the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator.  I thought he did a good job with differentiation in character voices and also with injecting emotion at point where it was needed.  The pacing varied a little bit with some pauses at points I wouldn’t expect, and was a bit slower than I’m used to, but overall it was still an enjoyable listen.  3.5 stars for the narration.

Review, Guest Post & Giveaway: GAY FOR PAY by TM Smith Re-Release (All Cocks Stories #1)

Gay for Pay was originally published in 2015. Flash forward nearly 3 years later and I have learned so much, become more comfortable as a writer and I'm writing better stories for my readers. So, my editor and I decided to go back to the book that started it all. It was the first book we worked on together and it was the first book in the now wildly popular All Cocks stories. I guess you could say we've come full circle.

Gay for Pay
An All Cocks story, book 1

GUEST POST
We're so happy to welcome author T.M. Smith to Making it Happen today!  Check out her guest post to learn about her inspiration for Gay for Pay!

Thanks for hosting me today Carra for the Gay for Pay re-release blog tour. I decided to go back and dig up a guest post where I talked about the inspiration for the book and the characters, so here that is…
Today I’m going to talk about visual inspiration and what my main characters look like. Let me start by saying, this book was inspired by a conversation I had at GRL 2014 in Chicago with a couple great guys. Randy Blue stars Jordan Levine and Caleb Strong are my Chris and Linc, so they were the guys I saw for the most part while I was writing the story. I did tweek Christopher’s appearance a little, so he’s sort of a mixture of Jordan Levine and actor Richard Madden (Rob Stark GOT). Chris has Jordan’s body and ink, but the look and feel of Richard with his wavy Auburn hair and smile. Lincoln is all Caleb though, right down to that amazing body and cute little shy smile.

For my threesome I knew I wanted their appearance to fit their role and their characteristics. Victor has this sex on a stick Romanian accent and a hypnotic personality, for him I chose Luke Evans. Andrew is driven and focused but down to earth with a motherly side, for him I chose Matt Bomer. And Mattie, god how I love Mattie, this character really took on a life of his own while I was writing. For him I chose a young Charlie Hunnum. Think the British version of Queer as Folk, NOT Sons of Anarchy.
Most of the time I will choose a visual point of reference for a character before I start writing, but with Officer Jon and Kory it was different. I didn’t find their images until after I’d finished the first draft. I think the fit well though, so we’ll see as the books progress.
To see what I saw while writing please visit my Gay for Pay album on Pinterest which includes images of how I see the house on Mamaroneck Island, the bedroom where the magic happens, Chris’s raven tattoo and of course, the men of All Cocks.
I wrote this post back in 2014 when Gay for Pay initially released and I was reminded of that time not only because of the re-release, but because we recently lost the lovely lady that introduced me to Jordan and Caleb, Sandrine Gasq-Dion. Her passing was sudden, unexpected and very heartbreaking for anyone that knew her. But in the days since her passing, I’m reminded of just how influential she was in our close knit community. Were it not for my friendship with Sandy, I may have stopped writing before I even published my first book. She gave me purpose and drive when I was ready to throw in the towel. And then she was key to me meeting the two guys that inspired the All Cocks stories. Goddamn, I miss that bitch! But she’ll continue to live on in our memories, in us retelling stories of time we got to spend with her.

Again, thanks for having me Carra. Make sure to enter the giveaway below before you go.

Carra's Review

I found this to be a fascinating look into the gay porn industry as well as a moving story.  I honestly never even thought about straight men doing the "gay for pay" thing before reading this, it's something that would have never occurred to me at all (which sure makes you think!).  But the author takes a subject that could be considered off-key and sensitive and turns it into a quite interesting story of one man's journey to find acceptance, forgiveness, and eventually love.

One of the things I really love about this story is how the All Cocks group is portrayed as a family--a patchwork of friends, co-workers, and lovers but a wonderful family nonetheless.  The entire cast of characters is intriguing, and the way they are written makes you want to hear every one of their stories (yes, even Kory, the requisite jerk of the group).

I thought Chris' character had a lot of depth, and watching as he finds a new kind of family to see who he really is and take him in regardless of his past makes for a very enjoyable read.  Linc fits quite well with Chris, and is patient, supportive and caring as Chris becomes comfortable in his new life and being with a man.  Once Chris moves past the awkward stage, the chemistry between the two of them is electric which translates into some crazy hot intimate scenes both on camera and off.

This was the first book I'd read by T.M. Smith, and after finishing I went on to read the rest of her books in this series, and I can highly recommend every single one of them.  A great M/M romance and voyage of discovery, Gay for Pay was a 4.5-star read for me.  This second edition of the story gives readers an even better look at the characters, and was even more satisfying than the first one.  Recommended strictly for 18+ due to explicit M/M sexual content.

Audiobook Release & Giveaway: LIVE FOR LOVE by TM Smith, Narrated by Joel Leslie

Live for Love is now available in
Audiobook format!

Beauregard Boudreaux is a native of New Orleans Louisiana, born and raised there, he never thought he would ever stray far from home. The untimely death of his first love left Beau lost, adrift, looking for a place as far away from the pain as possible. Initially, he came to New York to visit a friend, the city growing on him, so he decided to stay. His law degree comes in handy at the LGBT Center he runs, but his bar is his baby.

William Richards grew up in Chicago, his family oddly normal and very accepting of his sexuality. Modeling paid the bills, gigs across the country as a model, male entertainer and a personal trainer giving him the opportunity to see the world. He hasn’t experienced loss or pain as Beau has, the common denominator between them is the loneliness. As All Cocks big, brooding bottom Connor, William has found friendship, family and an outlet for his craving to be more submissive than men of his size and stature usually are.

The two men are perfect for each other, their tastes and lives align and the writing seems to be on the wall. But Beau has a secret he shares with a choice few, a secret that not only threatens to keep them apart, it’s deadly. Determined to keep a wall between himself and William, Beau fights the attraction, pushes William away every time he steps closer. Can one man’s determination and strength be enough to tear down a wall that holds back decades of pain and darkness? And if he can, will either of them survive the flood?

Disclaimer: This book is the fictional story of a man living with HIV. I have put a lot of time and effort into presenting this story as true to fact as possible, without going into gory or gruesome detail. If this subject is a trigger for you, you may want to skip this read. But my hope is that you give Beau a chance to capture your heart as he has mine, and William’s.

Review & Giveaway: CHOICES AND CHANGES by TM Smith-Includes Teaser Excerpt!

Love - Loss - Friendship - Family
The All Cocks stories

There comes a time in every man’s life where he has to make a choice between what is right and what is easy.

Born and raised in Fort Worth Texas by open-minded parents, Dean Anderson realized early in life he was attracted to both sexes. Equal opportunity, he picked his lovers based on personality and common interests. He met Maggie in college, fell in love, got married and started a family. And they were happy…until they weren’t.

Adam Chase’s mother is South African, his father American military working at the US Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa. His parents’ positions in the South African and American governments awarded Adam dual citizenship, and he attended University in America, at Berkley. In America, Adam is lives openly as a gay man, something that could get him killed in his mother’s home country. He met his husband, Patrick Carter, at college and they too were happy…until Patrick died.

Two lives converge, and it would seem fate is giving them each a second chance at happiness, together. Dean stays in New York and moves into the apartment his son, Dusty, shares with his boyfriend David. He and Adam are quickly welcomed into All Cocks’ vastly growing family. And then one phone call changes everything.

The men of All Cocks learn that death is just another part of life, a road everyone travels eventually. Choices are made, decisions that change their lives irrevocably. They rally together, drawing strength from each other as their close-knit family experiences the best and worst life has to offer. But that’s what families do, right?

Series reading order

Carra's Review

Stories that feature young singles and couples in their twenties and even thirties are what make up the bulk of what I usually read—primarily because that is the age range where the majority of romance stories are concentrated.  So, when a story comes along that centers on older characters in their mid to late forties or thereabouts, it always piques my interest—particularly as I get older myself.  The fact that Choices and Changes is part of the All Cocks Stories series that I already love is just icing on the cake.  Author TM Smith didn’t let me down with this installment of the series, and Adam and Dean fit very easily into the All Cocks family.

While this story is not a second chance romance in the traditional sense where the main characters were together early on, split and got back together again, it’s more like each man gets a second chance at romance-and another happily ever after-with someone new after experiencing love the first time around with someone else and losing it for one reason or another.  What the two of them have learned from their first loves made it feel like this time—with Adam and Dean—was comfortable, easily intimate, and full of much deeper feeling now that they have known love previously.  It seemed like it was so easy and natural for the two of them to slip so quickly into their relationship as if it was meant to be.

The physical intimacy between Dean and Adam is incredibly intense, passionate and oh so very HOT.  The two of them coming together-not just physically, but emotionally as well, seemed as simple and right as if they had always been together.  I do love a good angst-ridden story, but when two people come together so easily like Adam and Dean—it feels more like fate which to me is just as alluring.  That doesn’t mean there isn’t any drama or turmoil in this story…you will find that, and the cause is upsetting…but it does serve to draw not just Adam and Dean closer, but the entire All Cocks family.

I really enjoyed Dean and Adam’s story, as well as visiting again with all of the other characters from the series.  They all really are one big, wonderful family and I love to see them grow with each book that comes out.  Choices and Changes was a 4.5-star read for me, and Adam and Dean hold a special place in my heart simply because I can relate quite easily to them due to their ages.  While you might be able to read this on its own, I strongly recommend reading all of the stories in order as they continue to build on events in the past books—it really will heighten your enjoyment of the story to read them all in the order they are listed.  As with the other books, this one is meant for readers 18+ for adult language and M/M sexual content.
