Blurb

It’s the last year of college and Luke can’t forget the captain of the hockey team, or the kiss they shared as freshman.

Justin has to decide if hockey outweighs his attraction to Luke, because this might be the last chance he’ll have of making things right.

Carra's Review

When it comes to short stories, I inevitably wind up either feeling like a whole lot is missing (let’s face it—anything under 10,000 words it’s hard to get a satisfying read since there’s so much left unsaid), or on the opposite end I like it so much I would love to get a full-length novel about the characters.  In the case of RJ Scott’s Last Chance, it’s the latter sentiment that prevailed.

This is essentially a nerd/jock matchup—though in this case the jock (Justin) is also intelligent in his own right, but he’s also mostly closeted due to the fact that there’s no out pro hockey players, and he’s hoping to make it to the big time.  Luke is a sweetheart, but wary of Justin and Justin’s other jock friends.

But Justin’s friends trying to help him out with Luke make for some sweet, if a bit cheesy moments, and I’m glad Justin was persistent in trying to apologize to Luke.  Since it is a short story, things do wrap up pretty quickly—which is the primary reason I’d love it if the author would ever consider making this story into a full-length one to really do justice to Luke and Justin’s entire story.

A solid 4 stars for Last Chance; if you’re looking for a quickie M/M story and like a touch of second chance romance, Last Chance will fit the bill quite nicely.  Even though this story is under 6,000 words, there’s still enough adult language and sexual content to make this one for readers 18+.

RJ’s goal is to write stories with a heart of romance, a troubled road to reach happiness, and most importantly, that hint of a happily ever after.

RJ is the author of the over one hundred novels and discovered romance in books at a very young age. She realized that if there wasn’t romance on the page, she could create it in her head, and is a lifelong writer.

She lives and works out of her home in the beautiful English countryside, spends her spare time reading, watching films, and enjoying time with her family.

The last time she had a week’s break from writing she didn’t like it one little bit and has yet to meet a bottle of wine she couldn’t defeat.

She’s always thrilled to hear from readers, bloggers and other writers. Please contact via the following links below:
