Tour-Excerpt and Giveaway: The Scionless House by Nazarea Andrews

THE SCIONLESS HOUSE (The Scion Legacy, #.5) Synopsis:

Twelve Houses. Twelve vampire lines. We ruled from the shadows, and manipulated the world, and when humans came too close to destruction, we intervened.

Every House has a Scion. A fragile, easily broken human that stood shoulder to shoulder with the house Princes and Princesses.

Except for ours. The Ravens, House Cantelie.

We've been without a Scion for almost fifteen years.

But that will change...and her life will be mine to protect.

It's the Knight. Sulla is leaning against the limo as the big knight darts across the yard. Another bomb goes off, silver mist sparkling in the night and he snarls, falling back for a half second. His eyes find mine, bright with promise and intensity that makes no f*cking sense. He snarls again and then he's moving.
It's like a dance, as he darts and twist across the yard, as silver bombs fill the air with shining mist and Sulla watches, his expression almost bored. The stench of blood and smoke fill the air and my grip on the window sill tightens.
I want him to make it. I realize it when he's halfway across the yard and a silver net snaps up. For a heartbeat, he hesitates and his eyes find mine again, brilliant with something I can't name. His lips shape two words and my heart jerks hard in my chest, and then he walks, calm and collected as he stalks across the grass, ripping through the net with a grimace. Winston, at my shoulder, whistles softly and Sulla straightens as the Knight stalks through the grass and silver to climb the steps to our front door.
“Turn off the defenses,” I murmur.
They're expensive and useless. I feel Winston hesitate, and then he curses and stalks to the computer, toggling through programs to pull up the home defense system. With a few keystrokes he kills it and the sprinkler system pops up, spraying the yard and air, effectively bringing down the lingering silver mist. The Knight freezes with one foot on the deck, and his expression is somewhere between startled and disgusted.
Behind him, Sulla is laughing, his shoulders shaking as he watches.
“He’s a bit of a d*ck, isn’t he?” Winston says and I snort softly, my opinion too clear.
I think, after all of that, the polite but firm knock on the door startles me more than anything. Because he could barge in, fangs bare and demand my presence.
He knocks again, and I swallow hard, before smoothing my skirt down and walking to the door.
My hands don’t even shake when I open it, and I’m pretty sure that means I win some kind of bonus points.
His gaze sweeps over me and then darts to my brother and I feel the tension gather in him as he stands a few inches away, separated by the doorjamb and my own discomfort.
“My brother, Winston Hart.”
His gaze narrows and I snap my fingers. “O,” I snap.
He makes a noise, almost a snarl, before he chokes it off and refocuses on me. “Can I speak with you privately?”
I feel my brother’s tension, and I lift an eyebrow. “Do I have a choice?”
Something about the question infuriates him—he tenses, and one hand grips the knife he’s wearing, his knuckles white.
I take a step back, nervous.
“You always have a choice, Farley. I will make sure you always have a choice.”

THE FIRST FULL-LENGTH NOVEL IN THIS SERIES -- THE BLOOD SCION -- WILL BE RELEASED NOVEMBER 24TH.

THE BLOOD SCION Synopsis (The Scion Legacy, #1)

I was just a reporter, trying to stay ahead of my student loans.
I knew the rules, and I followed them.

I thought I knew how the world worked—humans lived their petty little lives in the safety of the sun. We loved and fought and—when the sun sank—we scurried behind our walls and lived in fear. That is when the monsters came out to play.

And even in the safety of the sun, we knew who ruled us.

The Houses. And their Scions.

Everyone knows the great Houses and their Scions—they are feared and loved and hated and envied. They are the gods who walk the shadows and rule all of our lives. They are salvation and death.

And somehow, I am one of them.
