About SAY MY NAME
New York Times bestselling author J. Kenner kicks off a smoking hot, emotionally compelling new trilogy that returns to the world of her beloved Stark novels: Release Me, Claim Me, and Complete Me. Say My Name features Jackson Steele, a strong-willed man who goes after what he wants, and Sylvia Brooks, a disciplined woman who’s hard to get—and exactly who Jackson needs.
I never let anyone get too close—but he’s the only man who’s ever made me feel alive.
Meeting Jackson Steele was a shock to my senses. Confident and commanding, he could take charge of any room . . . or any woman. And Jackson wanted me. The mere sight of him took my breath away, and his touch made me break all my rules.
Our bond was immediate, our passion untamed. I wanted to surrender completely to his kiss, but I couldn’t risk his knowing the truth about my past. Yet Jackson carried secrets too, and in our desire we found our escape, pushing our boundaries as far as they could go.
Learning to trust is never easy. In my mind, I knew I should run. But in my heart, I never felt a fire this strong—and it could either save me or scorch me forever.
Say My Name is intended for mature audiences.

Excerpt
“You really think you can come back after all this time and bat your lashes and have me fall backward over myself to help you out?”
“It’s not like that. I—”
“And for him—for Damien Stark? We’re done, princess,” he says, lifting a finger toward my face. “You told me to leave, sweetheart. And five years later you fall back into my life. And pretty goddamn dramatically, too.”
I lick my lips. “It’s just business.”
“The hell it is.” I hear the sharp edge of emotion in his voice, as dangerous as a well-honed blade. The fight is obvious on his face, as well, and I press back against the car, wishing I could disappear through the metal. He’s fire and fury, and I have no idea what he is going to do. All I know is that all that passion is directed toward me, and that no matter what happens, I won’t leave this parking lot unscathed.
I see it in his eyes first—a quick flash of wildness before his hand lashes out and his palm slams hard against the Lexus. Then he pulls me close, and I don’t even have time to think before his mouth closes over mine.
The kiss is violent. Wild and desperate. And when I gasp, he takes advantage, thrusting his tongue into my mouth as one hand holds my head and the other slides up my chest to cup my breast. He deepens the kiss, claiming me with such intensity that I know I would not be standing were it not for his hands upon me.
My Review
This is one of those books that, once you’re done, you head off to check out the author’s complete list of works so you can add every single one to your TBR list (if you haven’t read them already). This is actually the first book that I’ve read by this author, and now I’m kicking myself for not reading any of her work sooner…and I’m quickly working to rectify the situation.
A great example of the contemporary erotic romance genre, Say My Name has plenty of steam and spice, but it is also backed up by a well written storyline…including touching on some difficult subject matter that is handled delicately and sensitively.
The main characters of Jackson and Sylvia are both intense, passionate and strong willed. Distressing and emotionally charged issues from Sylvia’s past make it hard for her to get close, and continually feed into difficulties in their relationship. For me, I did sometimes find Sylvia’s attitude when it came to Jackson a little frustrating, until the full details of her past came to light and I could see why she acted the way she did. Jackson has his own issues from the past to deal with as well, adding to his broody alpha male personality.
The initial setup between Jackson and Sylvia is an eye-widener when Jackson voices his terms, and Sylvia’s willingness to accept those terms to get what she wants…it all amps up the drama between them. Secrets on both sides lead to clashes, confusion and misunderstandings until things come to a head and those secrets come to light. It makes for plenty of drama, suspense and a truly engaging read. I’m now hooked for the rest of the series-clearly the author knows her job and does it pretty darn well.
5 hot and steamy stars for Say My Name, and I’d definitely recommend to any fans of the contemporary erotic romance genre.
