by K.C. Wells & Parker Williams

Release date: August 21, 2018
Genre: M/M Romance, BDSM
Cover Artist: Reese Dante

Can two Doms open their hearts again for a young man desperately in need of their help?
Two years ago, Aaron Greene and Sam Thompson were devastated when their submissive broke the contract that bound the three of them together. They still wonder what happened and whether they can find a way to move forward. When Aaron finds a sick young man by the curbside, his protective instincts kick in, and after consulting Sam, he takes Tim home.
After being thrown out of his home, Tim Waterman finds himself on the street, doing whatever he needs to survive. Until a bear of a Good Samaritan scoops him up and saves him. Then one bear becomes two, and a chance discovery gets him thinking about what might be, if he’s bold enough to make a move.
So what happens when Aaron and Sam wake up one morning to find Tim naked in their bed? Will they get a new chance at life, or will history Threepeat itself?

Carra's Review

Though Threepeat is the third book in the Secrets series, you could read it as a standalone quite easily and have no issues.  Personally, I recommend reading these in order so you have the backstory for the other characters; if you want to be really thorough, start with the Collars & Cuffs series first, then move on to Secrets.  What you’ll find is something that is emphasized in this book, and seeps into every page of both series—these characters form a chosen family, sometimes better than the families into which the characters are born.  A family that is strong, supportive, and one that you’ll want to become a part of yourself.

Imagine being part of an amazing threesome that makes you happy in every way both in and out of the bedroom.  Now imagine that feeling coming to an unexpected, severely abrupt stop and not knowing why.  This is the situation Sam and Aaron are in and have been in for a couple of years now.  While they both love each other, there’s still that empty place they both feel so acutely that it makes you wonder just how long they can endure before even the two of them can’t handle it together any longer-especially since they are both Doms.  Can’t imagine it?  Don’t worry, the authors do an amazing job of describing it for you so you’ll feel their pain like it’s your own.

Tim hasn’t had a pleasant home life, and like so many others finds himself out on the street, trying to survive any way he can.  That Aaron finds him at a really low point is a stroke of luck—or maybe fate.  The nurturer in him HAS to help Tim, even if that means letting him go once Tim’s back on his feet.  And while Sam may try not to let it show, he needs to help as well.

The power dynamic between the three of them did feel a little unbalanced to me at times, mostly as their relationship was at its beginning stages.  The further into the story I read though, the more balanced it became.  The story concentrates on the threesome’s relationship development, with Aaron and Sam doing their utmost to show Tim how much they care for him, and to help him heal from his family’s horrible treatment.  The development is not rushed, and we do get to see things from before the three meet to give perspective on how they got to the point they were at when Aaron first comes across Tim.

I can’t say enough about the supporting characters.  The main characters from the first two books—Wayne and Ellis, and Vic and Rob—along with Eli, Jarod, and Jarod’s mother play a large part in the story, and all are instrumental in Tim’s healing process.  Of particular note is Maggie, Jarod’s mother, who helps lighten the mood, add laughter to your reading, but also provides unending support to Tim at every turn.

I really enjoyed Threepeat, and overall it was a 4.5-star read for me.  The BDSM elements tend toward the lighter side, in part due to Tim’s treatment while still with his family.  This story fits in well with the series, growing the Secrets family…I can’t wait to see where else the authors take this!  This book is meant for readers 18+ for adult language, sexual content, and scenes of physical abuse.

Oh, and just for some teasing fun…you may feel the need to bake cookies after reading *giggles*

About the Authors

K.C. Wells started writing in 2012, although the idea of writing a novel had been in her head since she was a child. But after reading that first gay romance in 2009, she was hooked.

She now writes full time, and the line of men in her head, clamouring to tell their story, is getting longer and longer. If the frequent visits by plot bunnies are anything to go by, that’s not about to change anytime soon.

New Release-Review & Giveaway: AN UNLOCKED MIND by K.C. Wells & Parker Williams (Secrets #2)

An Unlocked Mind
Series: Secrets Book #2
Author: K.C. Wells & Parker Williams
Genre: M/M Romance Light BDSM
Release Date: December 11, 2017

Rob Daniels is determined to prove to himself that his brother Alex got it wrong. Alex believes he found love through BDSM; Rob is certain that’s not possible. He even makes several visits to a London club to prove his point. But when he attends the grand opening of Secrets, Rob gets a shock, one that has him fleeing, vowing never to return—until he does… and runs into the brick wall that is Dom Vic Prentiss. As first meetings go, theirs is a disaster.

The more time he spends around Rob, the more convinced Vic becomes of two things—one, something is eating away at Rob, and two, he’s looking for something. Every instinct tells Vic to help him, but trying to unlock the secrets hidden in Rob’s mind requires a key. All Vic has to do is find it. Because maybe then he’ll get to see the real Rob, the man who’s scared to let go….

While this book is part of a series it can be read as a standalone.  However, I personally recommend readers read An Unlocked Heart from the authors’ Collars and Cuffs series first to get the backstory regarding Rob’s relationship with his brother Alex first—I think it will greatly enhance your enjoyment of An Unlocked Mind if you do.

Rob and Vic’s story starts and progresses slowly; their relationship builds over time as the two get to know each other and grow closer.  Rob’s character goes through plenty of growth as the story goes on, opening himself up to what he previously looked down upon.  When I first read about him in Alex’s story, I thought he was a real jerk and I wasn’t sure after his actions then how he would be redeemed now.  But the authors did a great job at revealing the inner workings of Rob’s mind and turning his character into one I actually really liked (especially his bratty side that would come out from time to time with Vic).

Vic is a patient, intelligent man who sees the man Rob is inside and is drawn to helping him.  He may have his hands full with Rob at times, but his patience and tenacity—along with his growing feelings—help him to guide Rob to become the person he was meant to be.  I enjoyed the dynamic between the two of them, and was glad Vic had the chance to get what was missing for him as well—someone to share his life with.

I love this series so far; that we also get to see some of the characters from the original Collars and Cuffs series is a nice bonus.  An Unlocked Mind was 4.5 stars for me, and I really am looking forward to see where the authors take the series from here.  This book is meant for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content.

Oh, and for the record…I wholeheartedly sided with Rob regarding his customer at the beginning of the book, and thought his boss was a real jackass to him about the whole situation (not to mention his boss’s attitude, period).

Length: 115,247 words

Cover Design: Reese Dante

Publisher: Dreamspinner Press

Blurb

Six years ago Ellis walked into his first briefing as the newest member of London's Specialist Firearms unit. He was partnered with Wayne and they became fast friends. When Wayne begins to notice changes-Ellis's erratic temper, the effects of sleep deprivation-he knows he has to act before Ellis reaches his breaking point. He invites Ellis to the opening of the new BDSM club, Secrets, where Wayne has a membership. His purpose? He wants Ellis to glimpse the lifestyle before Wayne approaches him with a proposition. He wants to take Ellis in hand, to control his life because he wants his friend back, and he figures this is the only way to do it.

There are a few issues, however. Ellis is straight. Stubborn. And sexy. Wayne knows he has to put his own feelings aside to be what Ellis needs. What surprises the hell out of him is finding out what Ellis actually requires.

Carra's Review

This is definitely my favorite book of the ones these authors have written together.  The more they write together, the better their collaboration gets.  I do admit that I was unsure of the matchup between Wayne and Ellis at first given how everything appeared at the start of the story.  I was actually not terribly fond of Ellis in the beginning since I felt like his family ran roughshod over him, and I get frustrated when people don’t stick up for themselves (even characters in a book of fiction).  But appearances can be deceiving, and I’m glad I kept an open mind with his character.

Wayne is absolutely hands-down, one hundred percent Dom.  It’s evident not just in his private life, but in his public one as well even if it’s not called that.  He is strong, extremely protective of anyone he cares about, and a true leader.  Ellis has had his life shaped by parents-his father in particular-who have antiquated views of life and family, and it’s been to his personal detriment.  He is stretched to the max emotionally and physically, and it’s taking a toll on him in more ways than one.  When Wayne first considers the idea of taking Ellis in hand thru BDSM to get him back under control, I was a bit wary.  But Ellis’s character fits the submissive role like he was born to it—even when he’s pushing back against it.

This story allows for a lot of character growth for Ellis as Wayne guides him, and as he really comes into his own and takes back his life.  Where I had doubts in the beginning, by the end it all fit much better when it had become obvious that it was everything Ellis needed. In another nod to Wayne’s no-nonsense, take-charge personality, he never lets Ellis run from his problems, and helps him figure out how to confront them head-on, solving them together.  While you might think when you first start reading this story that it’s going to be GFY (gay-for-you), don’t let initial appearances color your opinion.  There’s always more to things than meet the eye.

I really liked that we got to see some of the characters from the Collars & Cuffs series return for some cameos, and even more that we got to see Jarod and Eli in these fresh roles.  It made me like Eli a bit more (I wasn’t his biggest fan in Dom of Ages), and I loved how Jarod seems to be spreading his wings.  I am really looking forward to many more books in this series, and I think that Before You Break was a really good start to it.  4.5 stars, and I would recommend this story to any M/M BDSM romance fan…and if you’re already a fan of Collars & Cuffs, you’re going to love a return to the themes found there and some of the characters too.  This book is only for readers 18+ due to adult language and explicit M/M sexual content.

About the Authors

Born and raised in the north-west of England, K.C. WELLS always loved writing. Words were important. Full stop. However, when childhood gave way to adulthood, the writing ceased, as life got in the way. K.C. discovered erotic fiction in 2009, when the purchase of a ménage storyline led to the startling discovery that reading about men in love was damn hot. In 2012, arriving at a really low point in life led to the desperate need to do something creative. An even bigger discovery waited in the wings-writing about men in love was even hotter...

K.C. now writes full-time and is loving every minute of her new career. The laptop still has no idea of what hit itÖ it only knows that it wants a rest, please. And it now has to get used to the idea that where K.C goes, it goes.

And as for those men in love that she writes about? The list of stories just waiting to be written is getting longer... and longer...

Happily Ever After Comes With A Price Tag. Parker Williams began to write as a teen, but never showed his work to anyone. As he grew older, he drifted away from writing, but his love of the written word moved him to reading. A chance encounter with an author changed the course of his life as she encouraged him to never give up on a dream. With the help of some amazing friends, he rediscovered the joy of writing, thanks to a community of writers who have become his family. Parker firmly believes in love, but is also of the opinion that anything worth having requires work and sacrifice (plus a little hurt and angst, too). The course of love is never a smooth one, and Happily Ever After always has a price tag.
