Bash pulled on his jeans from last night and took the few steps to the ladder leading topside. “Baby, you want bacon and eggs or pancakes?” he called, ready to make good on last night’s promise. He stopped short, finding the deck empty. Well, damn. His mood burst like someone had stuck a pin in it. He gazed toward the beach a few yards away, hoping to catch her leaving. The sandy stretch between the surf and hotel was empty save for a few birds. It had been a bar hookup. What did I expect? He sank to the cushion. Despite what he told himself, there’d been more to their evening than scratching an itch. At least on his side. She’d been sweet and made him laugh with her wide open innocence. She’d been exactly what he needed after dealing with jaded Hollywood types for the weeks leading up to the beginning of filming.
