Uncover Me - Men of Inked #4
Synopsis
I lost track of my life.
Spiraling down the rabbit hole, I lost myself and became one of them. Living undercover within the MC, the days bled together as I became absorbed in a life of excess and violence.
Becoming consumed was easy.
Was I Thomas Gallo, good guy and respected cop or Blue, Sergeant-at-Arms of the Sun Devils MC?
Before, I could answer with certainty. But now, there’s a darkness that has settled deep in my soul, fusing with my heart and altering my reality forever.
The road I’ve traveled has been paved with danger, death, and deception.
Roxanne grew up as part of the MC, a victim of her birth. Her life has been treacherous, setting her on a course of torment and destruction.
When our worlds collide, secrets are revealed. Trying to save us from damnation, I fight for redemption and the woman I love.
My Review
After much buildup and hinting around, I was excited to get ahold of Uncover Me so I could read Thomas’ story. I hate to say it, but while it was a good story and we do get some great drama, it didn’t quite “wow” me like I thought it would. I found there was plenty of good action, drama and suspense in the first third and last third of the book, but the middle not so much.
As far as the main characters go, I loved just about everything about Thomas (just not the fact that he smokes-that drives me nuts for any character), and Roxy/Angel is so sweet and has a vulnerability about her that makes it so you automatically feel for her situation and life. But we don’t get to see their relationship unfold from the start-when the story begins, they’ve already gotten together, albeit not under the best of circumstances since Thomas is undercover and can’t tell Roxy who he really is.
Of course we get to see the entire Gallo family, all of whom I’ve become totally invested in at this point of the series. Listening to them interact with each other is funny, and it’s like as a reader I feel like I’ve become one of the family already.
One thing that bugged me was the big conflict towards the end of the story-it just doesn’t feel right as I can’t see this family taking care of something like that on their own regardless of how tight a family they are and how badass they might be (I really don’t want to say too much and spoil anything)…so that part seemed like a bit of a stretch for me. There were also some sappy family/love moments toward the end that felt a bit much.
But overall Uncover Me is still a great story, and a good addition to the series (plus we get more of Anthony with some teasing of his story to come!). I give it 3.75 stars, rounded to 4. As with the rest of the series, Uncover Me is strictly 18+ for both language and adult situations (which are just as hot as ever!).
