The Teen Wytche Saga by Ariella Moon

Think magic will solve your problems?

Bring you love? Cure you? Protect you? Help you find someone who is lost?

Think again.

Magic tests friendships. It hisses, chirps, stinks up the room, backfires, and explodes. Magic forces you to make tough decisions. Shatter limitations. Discover your true self. When you use magic, expect results in the ultimate triple-un—unpredictable, uncontrollable, and so undeniable.

And you thought navigating high school was tough.

Praise for the Teen Wytche Saga

A great read that kept me captive, I couldn't stop reading! Ariella Moon has created a piece of art! I can't wait for the next book!”

My Review of Spell Check

Thank goodness for mature teens in a YA book!  There are so many YA books out there where the teens are written in such a childish manner (much younger than their ages), that it was refreshing to read a good YA paranormal story with characters that actually have brains-and use them.  Put that together with some great writing and a cool storyline, and you get Spell Check.

I wonder a bit at how accepting teens can be about magic and spells being real, but their innocence and willingness to believe makes this story work.  The author weaves an engrossing tale, including some really great concepts from real-life Wicca to give the story a very authentic touch.  This along with the heavier topic of the loss of Evie's father helps shape a really great story that anyone from teens on up can enjoy.

I really liked all of the characters, though from time to time Parvani's attitude did wear a little on me, and the way Jordan talked seemed a bit annoying.  Evie and Salem were my favorites (I'm so glad Salem gets to be the focus of book 2!), and I enjoyed seeing Evie's journey through the story.

A solid 4-star read, recommended for teens and above-especially if you're a fan of the YA paranormal romance genre.

Spell Struck

"A fantastic YA paranormal read, reminiscent of the film "Practical Magic"! Spell Struck combines quirky but fun teen characters dealing with new schools, romance, and family problems, with magic, and more serious topics like suicide and kidnapping."
Sarah E. Bradley, InD’Tale Magazine
5 Stars, Crowned Heart for Excellence

“The Teen Wytche Saga is a gripping series of books that combine otherworldly magick with the everyday struggles of growing up a teenager in America… Unexpected plot twists at every turn of the page grab you and hold on from start to finish.”
Karyn Pickles, 5 Star Amazon Review

“I loved Spell Struck even more than I loved Spell Check!”

My Review of Spell Struck

This second installment in the Teen Wytche Saga was even better than the first.  More intriguing, totally captivating and even more excitement.  There's more suspense with the introduction of Aidan/Nico and his "family's" situation, which makes for an absorbing read.

I liked that the author was able to build on the world introduced in the first book, taking us more in-depth with these characters while adding new twists and turns.  The fact that Salem already had knowledge of the magical when this series started just adds to the enjoyment of the read since you know she has a good idea of what she's doing (for the most part-after all, she is a teenager).

This book does touch on the more serious topic of child kidnapping, and the continued more mature personalities of the characters along with the major themes kept me riveted throughout the story.

A definite recommended read for YA paranormal romance lovers, teenage and up...and 4.5 stars from me!

This book looked fun and magical from the start … I really want to go back and get the first and second book now and read the series from the beginning. Ariella has made me fall in love with the characters in the middle of the story. I also can not wait for the fourth installment.”
Becca Wilson, 5-Star Amazon Review

“Great cast of characters, diverse protagonist, fast-paced action and romance, and a touch of different types of regional magic all tied into a fantastic read. I would highly recommend these to any woman (no matter the age) looking for an uplifting paranormal romance!”

I loved it!!! Absolutely loved it!!!...

Excerpt from Spell Fire, Book #3, The Teen Wytche Saga
Thor's eyes met mine. Our gazes locked, and I swear he did a Zen mind meld. Soothing waves of chi — energy — flowed through me. The brimstone stink evaporated, replaced by the calming scent of lavender and sage.
Hazel's gaze swiveled from me to Thor, then back to me. Looking buffeted by an unseen wind, she silently returned to her seat.
The corners of Thor's full lips curved upward. Two urges warred within me — the desire to leap across the room and kiss him, and the urge to arch my neck and breathe fire.
Thor's smile widened.

My Review of Spell Fire

I do admit...this third offering in the Teen Wytche Saga kind of had me on the fence for probably the first two-thirds of the book.  I wasn't quite sure what to make of it, as it was a little bit of a departure from the first two books.  I couldn't quite find my reading groove for the first part, though the introduction of all these new characters that we didn't see in the first two books was still quite interesting.

The author again touches on some serious topics with the main character, Ainslie, coping with OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) and the fact that her childhood friend disappeared.  This is expertly woven into the storyline, and as Ainslie's character's growth occurs throughout the story we can see how her OCD does change based on the events that occur and the relationships she forms.  Ariella Moon really can write about some serious, important themes and incorporate them so well into her books.

As for the other characters...Thor came across to me as older than he really was which I think was part of why I had issues settling down with the story until later in the book-but he still is very swoon-worthy and I was rooting for him and Ainslie.  I LOVED Ainslie's aunt and uncle.  And the story could never have been the same without Jett (even if I was rooting for Thor) :-)

I truly enjoyed the introduction of dragon magic, and the visuals that would come to mind as the author described the things connected with it that happened in the story.

Since it did take me a bit to get really settled into the book, I've given it 4 stars.  It's a great addition to the series...and now with that ending I just HAVE to see where the saga goes next!  Still great for teenagers and up since it is a good, clean read.
