Excerpt:
I’m sitting in the parking lot of Wally’s, and I keep looking for Ella’s car and checking my phone to see if I missed her call or text.
“I don’t think she’s coming,” Cory says from the backseat.
Deep down, even though I don’t want to admit it, I don’t think she is either.
She’s almost an hour late and the last time I talked to her was around five o’clock. She said she’d meet me here at seven. The clock on the dash says seven-fifty-nine.
I throw my head back on to the headrest as I mutter, “I think this is the first time I’ve ever been stood-up.”
Cory just snorts.

Excerpt
Entering the kitchen, I find Chris leaning on the marble countertop by the coffeepot, shirtless and in his pajama bottoms, the long strands of his blond hair a wild, sexy mess I’m pretty sure I created last night.
He glances up from the paper he’s reading, then picks up his coffee cup. “Morning, Ms. McMillan.”
“Morning, Mr. Merit,” I reply, grinning as I join him.
He offers me his coffee cup and I happily accept it, taking a drink of the perfectly flavored coffee and creamer. Sharing a cup with Chris has this sexy, intimate feel to it that always does funny things to my belly.
“Your last day as a free woman,” he comments.
“Why? Are you planning to tie me up sometime soon?”
He covers my hands on his cup. “Is that an objection, or wishful thinking?” He tilts the cup and drinks, his eyes never leaving mine.
“I plead the Fifth. It’s more fun that way.”
“That it is,” he agrees, but a sigh follows. “I wish I could do the same, but you’d better look at the newspaper.” He sets the cup on the counter, then hands me the Arts section of the local paper.
Dread fills me as I read the headline: “Acclaimed Artist and Philanthropist Chris Merit to wed Sara McMillan on Valentine’s Day in Star-studded Event in Sonoma.” I set it down. “We went to so much trouble to get the press off our backs before the wedding, and now they’ve found us! I knew when all these famous people showed up on the guest list, it was going to turn into a zoo.” “Walker Security anticipated the press, and they’re staffed and ready for it. It’ll be fine. We’ll be shielded.”
Nerves the size of birds, not butterflies, attack my stomach.
“We should have eloped.”
“We still can. Let’s do it. Now. Today.”
“We can’t elope,” I say, sounding appalled, as if he’d suggested it, not me. “People who respect you are coming a long way to see us. And Katie has planned this for months.”
“Baby, we can do whatever we want. This is our day.”
“No. We can’t. Not this far into this. Which reminds me— you can’t stay here tonight. It’s bad luck to see the bride the night before the wedding.”
“I told you how I feel about that. We make our own luck.”
“Chris—”
He kisses me. “I’m staying here tonight, and I’m f*cking you like I won’t see you ever again, just to be sure you walk down that aisle.”
“If you’re waiting for me at the end of that aisle, I’ll be there. And if you’re staying here tonight, we can use separate bedrooms.”
“Does today count as part of that eve-of-the-wedding rule?”
“Yes.”
He scoops me up and I yelp. “What are you doing?”
“I’m a renegade, baby. Let’s go break the rules.”

My Review

Chris and Sara are so perfectly made for each other, complementing each other totally and showing what the true meaning of a soul mate really is.  All of Me is the culmination of everything that they have had to endure since they met, and a good wrap up for the series.

We get the hot and steamy (and with Chris Merit, you know those scenes are good) along with Lisa’s classic romantic suspense storytelling.  The first half of the story felt well paced, but the second half seemed rushed, like we were jumping from one loose end to another trying to tie everything up neatly so that all the readers’ questions will be answered.  Which honestly, they weren’t.  There’s still Chantal, Tristan and Rey who don’t seem to be resolved…and Ella of course (but that’s what the next series is for).

There were also some things that Chris had mentioned, hinting at a possible event in his and Sara’s future that would have been nice to see addressed in some sort of epilogue to this story…or maybe even another book for this series or spin-off series (I really can’t say exactly what without a bit of a spoiler).

But the fact that I want to know what else may happen with these secondary characters (oh, and Mark and Crystal-we get a bit of them in All of Me as well, but we can all always use more of Mark!)…that’s a testament to the excellent characters that the author has created-I’m invested in them and want more.

A nice end to the Inside Out series, I give All of Me 4 stars…and I’m hoping for some more insight into all of the characters in some way in the future.  Still only recommended for the 18+ crowd, and the entire series continues to be a top recommendation for me.

Excerpt #2

I step into the hallway and Mike is waiting, looking sharp in a tuxedo. "I have the rings." He takes my arm. "And now I have the beautiful bride."

I cling to his arm. "Thank you. I feel unsteady."

"I won’t let you fall. And I promise you, neither will Chris."

There’s a tiny pinch in my chest at his sincerity, and a wish that my father could say such things and mean them, but I quickly shove it aside. "I know," I say, eager to get to Chris.

Jacob and Blake are at the exit when I arrive, and Jacob hands me my bouquet, giving me a grand bow before he opens the door for me. I pause and kiss him on the cheek. "Thanks for taking good care of us."

"What about me?" Blake demands.

"You stole Jacob from us. You get no kiss." I walk out of the chateau with Mike, and freeze with the realization that hundreds of eyes are upon me.

Release Day Blitz-Review, Excerpt and Giveaway: Hornet's Nest by Jaycee Ford

 BOOK: Hornet's Nest
AUTHOR: Jaycee Ford
SERIES: Love Bug Series - Book Three
GENRE:  Contemporary Romance
RELEASE DATE:  February 3rd, 2014

SYNOPSIS

Katherine Klein has been warned: Stay far away from Lance Walton. After one night in the country, the quintessential city girl has the unwanted attention of the infamous country boy. For months, she’s been dodging his advances, but a moment of weakness changes everything.

Lance Walton felt immediately drawn to Katherine from the moment she knocked on his best friend’s door Christmas morning. Winning over this city girl is a mountain of a task for any country boy, but Lance is up to the challenge. He never expected the morning he left her naked at The Inn would be the last time he would see her.

In the aftermath of her bad decisions, Katherine returns to the city. Haunted by what they shared and all she lost, she vows to never return to the country. But the country finds her unexpectedly when Lance shows up in the most unlikely place.  But does he have the country boy charm to break through the walls of her heart and outshine the big city competition?

EXCERPT

           “Need a refill?”
Her eyes shot over to me. I smiled holding out another glass for her. She didn’t appear to be drunk by any means.  Something told me that this girl could hold her liquor. Her hand reached out, taking the glass from my grip. When our fingers touched, I knew. I knew she couldn’t deny what was happening between us. There was something definitely happening between us; something that had never happened before … except for once. I turned my head and found my pregnant ex-girlfriend on the lap of my best friend a few tables down. My heart hurt, I could admit that. But seeing two people I truly loved being undeniably happy made it all worth it. I gave them hell and I wished I hadn’t, but things were right with the world now. I was happy enough for them.
            “Would you like to sit?”
Yep. Things were right with the world now.
I sat down next to Katherine in a wooden folding chair. The distance was too great, so I adjusted my chair, becoming almost flush with hers. I draped my arm around her and rested it on the back of the chair. I stared out over the dance floor and could feel her eyes question my arm around her. She would just have to get used to it. I planned on touching a lot more than just her shoulder.
“So, what has you all mopey?” I asked as I continued to watch Jordan and Tom’s first dance.
“I’m not mopey,” she shot back, proving that she was in fact mopey.
“Says the girl who already downed a bottle of champagne before the first dance is over.” I glanced at her, and her eyes fell on me. In that moment, I knew why she was upset. I looked at Jordan and Tom dancing and then back at Katherine. I squeezed her into a half-ass hug and said, “Think of it this way, beautiful. You didn’t lose a friend. You gained me.”
She laughed while elbowing me in the stomach, and said, “I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.”
Katherine continued to laugh until she caught my eye. I leaned in close to her, slowly brushing my nose against her cheek until my lips reached her ear. The breath caught in her throat.
“I’ll prove to you how good it can be.”

My Review

First off, while this could be read on its own, I’d really recommend reading Watching Fireflies and Dragonfly Awakening first-trust me, it will greatly enhance your enjoyment of the story.

Next-I LOVED Lance.  He really is sincere when it comes to Katherine, you can see he is truly bitten by the “love bug” (yeah, I know…pun is definitely intended), and he’ll do whatever it takes to have Katherine as his.  Katherine on the other hand is very quick to jump to conclusions and likes the bottle just a bit too much for my taste.  Lance is so willing to do anything to show her he’s not the playboy he used to be before he met her, and the way Katherine would keep treating him…well, let’s just say I thought he deserved more from her.  Thankfully she eventually wised up ;-)

The author’s writing continues to evolve in this third book of the series, and I found it easy to read since it really moved along well.  The storyline was very good, although the big conflict brought around by Josh felt a little bit contrived to me.  Once we move past it though, everything falls into place nicely.

While Lance was a true hound dog through the first two books, it was wonderful to see him grow and change here in his story, and Hornet’s Nest made me appreciate his character a whole lot more.  A good, solid addition to the Love Bug series, I give Hornet’s Nest 4 stars!
