Blog Tour Review: On My Knees by J. Kenner

About ON MY KNEES

Jackson Steele and Sylvia Brooks continue to thrill in the second novel of a scintillating, emotionally charged new trilogy that returns to the world of J. Kenner’s beloved Stark novels: Release Me, Claim Me, and Complete Me.

I never thought I’d lose control, but his desire took me right to the edge.

Powerful, ambitious, and devastatingly sexy, Jackson Steele was unlike any other man I’d ever known. He went after what he wanted with his whole mind, body, and soul—and I was the woman in his sights. One touch and I surrendered, one night together and I was undone.

Jackson and I had secrets, dark pieces of our pasts that threatened to swallow us both. We couldn’t outrun our demons, or the people trying to tear us apart. But in our passion we found salvation, and in each other’s arms we found release.

I was scared to trust Jackson fully, to finally let go. Yet no matter the dangers that lay ahead, I knew I was his—and now that we’ve laid claim, there’s no more holding back.

On My Knees is intended for mature audiences.

My Review

One thing I'll say about J. Kenner...she sure as hell knows how to hook you, draw you in, and then ramp up the intensity.  After reading the first book in this series, Say My Name, I was looking forward to more drama, tension, emotion and hot and steamy...what I got was exactly that and more.

With many secrets still unknown on both sides, and the drama of both Sylvia and Jackson's pasts coming back to the forefront, On My Knees continues to expand on the already creative and intricate storyline from Say My Name-but now throwing in even more complications and getting you even more invested in the complex web the author has woven.

I did get a tiny bit frustrated with Sylvia a couple of times when she would jump to conclusions about Jackson without knowing the full story, and only seeing and hearing things in the press (and not necessarily trustworthy press either).  My sympathies lay overwhelmingly with Jackson-even when he does make a big screw-up-and he is far and away my favorite character, with that feeling cementing the more that I read.

The two of them together?  Still full of intense fire, adoration, devotion-and of course, love.

Jackson has been sitting beside me on the lounger, but now he moves to kneel in front of me.  He rests his hands on my knees, and the contact is warm and comforting.  "There's only you.  There has only ever been you.  Even before I met you, it was just you."  His smile is a little crooked.  "And there will only ever be you"

Just when you think things are heading in the right direction...you read the final page.  And dammit, I'm so thoroughly hooked for the next book already, now that final scene has ensured I'll be reading again...and again...and again until I get this whole intense, totally mesmerizing story.  And yes-this means you're getting a cliffhanger, and it's a doozy.  But believe me-it's going to have you hooked too.

Another 5 stars for this breathtaking follow up in the series, and I'm sitting here tapping my foot waiting to find out what happens next!
